Program Overview:

$ j+ h! [& C+ KIntegrated Employability Skills Training gives immigrants the essential
( @. |  Z, H% n$ M; \skills needed for success in the Alberta workplace. This 5-month funded
6 j! u. R" q! s) Kprogram combines classroom-based training with work site visits and work
1 s/ V' @5 {: m( wexperience placements in high-demand semi-skilled occupations, such as
warehousing, customer service, hospitality, healthcare support, food
. T: H9 p+ P$ z4 yservices and others.

Candidate Profile:

Candidates for this funded program must be landed immigrants, Canadian
0 ^  Y+ a5 H. w+ E% I# f( F9 _citizens or refugees who are eligible to work in Canada and who have:
*        English communication skills in the 4 - 6 range on CLB
*        Basic literacy and numeracy skills and some secondary or post-
! f" i6 \  X" ^secondary education
*        A genuine interest in finding permanent employment in a high-demand
occupation
/ ]* P) k# F7 f. L*        Availability to study fulltime for 5 months and then be employed
*        Willingness to commit to a program and future job
2 E4 i3 y2 k3 S' v5 @*        Resided in Alberta for the past 3 months

Program Description:

                        *        4 months classroom-based instruction and
field trips
        *        Improve your English while learning about a variety of
high-demand occupations
        *        Increase computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
- l( x! j# i+ yInternet, etc.)
# C$ n8 A" w6 c. V7 v$ L        *        Write a winning resume and improve interview skills
  }, Y' o6 g% U& w        *        Get First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certificates
        *        Take advantage of one-on-one employment counseling
                        *        1 month work-experience placement

Class Schedule and Location:

        *        September 12, 2005 to January 31, 2006
        *        Monday to Friday
        *        9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (tentative)

Street, Edmonton

Funding:

Students may be eligible for tuition and living expenses from Student
Finance.
