Duties$ y8 x% O( i+ Q4 C
* Y! v' e( T9 a! d& V d) _" o3 n0 n
* Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory5 X- b2 ^, N0 ]1 d; e
* Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr5 n+ s' \- K' O) Z. x) n
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps8 s& a8 t+ m6 M, A
* Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations4 [6 x6 x/ y+ d4 k3 j8 ]# L
* Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations

* Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred W5 Q3 c6 H, _& o& p+ ], Y/ b
* Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation
. o [( p+ ]$ |, s * Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers) h; c( ^2 w6 y7 l( m# z2 S
* WHMIS training% O& Q$ Z: L! v [4 n- X) o
* Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset0 H, G! c# H! O5 Z2 P. ^3 a+ i$ j* E' z0 x
