On Saturday the placement races begin, with each team scheduled for two races, one scheduled before noon and the other in the afternoon. The combined race times are collected for every team entered, and are used to seed the teams in Sunday's division categories. Also on Saturday at the mid-day break in the race schedule, teams will participate in the Spirit awards which include the Best Dressed Drummer & Steersperson, or the best Team chant. The fastest teams will compete medal rounds in their category, while other teams race for placement status.
