1 R: u* I4 e1 a0 A9 mThis fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
1 Q( w! r ?. Q% e$ h5 W7 V# dEligibility Criteria
+ k) `$ X5 B" Z& S* rAll potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:0 U# @7 v0 u/ a. e+ m
•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less
( i2 x+ G8 l1 `9 u& F D! e•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education
7 ^- N8 ~2 e0 _5 w# I; B•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English- O, B- e R" R& L8 F! ^$ I
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada
: [- _7 p2 s7 u+ l: k" F9 b3 Y. d2 e$ E6 J& K•No prior Canadian work experience in their field
1 \2 S: ]: |6 R/ k& p- f1 P, u4 ^•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less
% Q; N, G* y! ~8 \•Be eligible to work in Canada N- P6 `, ]3 ^! F! F
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop
, Z* j# N: R2 F0 V V5 U•Lack access to professional networks; I4 ]4 y' A. D
•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning
: e& X. Q" \3 q' aTime Commitment. C# k" U% b) \& j
The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.
