) V. o' u- }0 U% ^1 L. X* A$ k: Z8 LIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
$ t! I2 X, V; S# DPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
) b- M/ ~: m9 K: J+ Z6 G. |( `8 QAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. - k g1 k. T' O2 O2 H* v; d% n
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 9 z, r0 O* A- s2 c( Q
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. " i3 {6 ]* `. _5 o1 v5 U
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. . V1 K6 K- p( R6 _# l
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
( c! b5 Y' b$ H' A7 b UEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. & o% U% A' x( a g4 j( b+ u( M1 G
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. 5 o5 o% B4 R# L& ?2 q$ K) \
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. 1 S1 B& J; ~3 W* ]. Z
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
+ o' ]% _- f1 E* a" QEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 4 j( L; |4 `6 u; ?
Qualifications ) O. _! O8 @% k, `; G& e
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
" d8 u" e/ Y' p$ A( JPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
* z3 ~! [1 \6 n+ y3 P" ZPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
u& n7 |, T( |& y5 l9 cPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
# _' \+ T3 E! G. m( I! {. j6 fIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
