Q% V7 _, P" |9 @0 I- G: KIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
" k! u- g1 A$ \Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. * p/ t4 m2 `2 a! R0 t7 A
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
: z( e' x- c. \. z* f9 _- U3 GOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. , x) t. T# T6 Y# I0 A0 g: h' d6 n
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 4 A9 X! |. K) |
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 7 x1 e6 o, ~8 K1 m/ o) z
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
7 ?' ? J5 H: q: @9 J# KEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
' S2 r8 }4 M' L, i4 aDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
. t5 K8 [3 u; {0 IAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.

Qualifications * Z) I/ }% \/ F2 L+ l
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. " c# k1 C7 Y8 |$ ~8 H# H. b
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. ( Z8 Y' u0 t3 v4 k, G1 S
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. b: V6 ]+ f, F: B" g$ G3 J
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
0 n: v+ n( J: a- RIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
" X3 G$ y' c+ `5 _5 u0 k; G& nProficiency in a second language is considered an asset. , V8 H" i$ K5 i2 a6 J
