U" s1 R$ }2 c& I6 nIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
6 ~. Y0 \- S, H0 Y, Z3 s; P4 j4 rPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.

' N1 m: D9 e* o" v2 E6 s5 D+ q% z8 fOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. / z6 u: l |2 F: p2 r2 o
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 3 y: m! h/ f( M: C# [5 o
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
& e, P' ~, r2 m$ y! gExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 2 L1 u% U- v& ^' M* z2 b
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 6 `* N/ h5 P- w
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. / U, X" A$ o: v h g5 Z0 r
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
& O3 X6 W7 {; G8 R* w4 CIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
: C. X9 o6 ~3 ~) q" O p4 hEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. & K$ d5 n6 R# ]* u7 N6 c z
Qualifications
6 s0 S( L( K& }6 J, sA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
' V2 u' n+ Y; _8 fPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
9 ?- F5 x. A% |/ L0 P3 J) PPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. Y: P% J# p. a- I
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
# w9 ~: [2 S9 F! i* H! V: EIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. ) z* E$ a4 D+ E3 Y% Q# a8 K
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. # x4 B. y5 m4 D: d
