In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
0 G, k8 j! m$ x6 Y) gPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
$ L9 ~. b4 f! n0 x+ C; lAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
; c9 |/ Z$ r+ M! O/ f, TOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
9 ?: x; u6 A4 I: ?/ GMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 4 {( [/ x3 N4 U, z2 O$ d4 q& O: M
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 5 Y5 c# G4 X0 }) o
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
/ T' v% e; T/ F0 s/ tEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
9 F* u" V5 D" I9 vDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. . h Q1 k+ Z) n3 v
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. 1 {, i! l Z* s% x* |" R) x
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
) _+ k& t0 }; }( LEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
y5 M; z% u0 z, B0 OPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. , ]) f2 s+ E0 ~. v6 s* F1 i# h! ]
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
6 E1 e* H/ [6 b" B; I' z/ MPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. ; m" s6 H$ L$ D$ S! _
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
# w2 ~. l3 H; P- uProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
