Responsibilities % L" C* o" A$ i& @! t
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. , `- R2 G2 E( I) O
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
) A6 E9 e+ c- M! D* W- [% ?Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.   ?$ l1 p' {* X6 j. k
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
9 l/ l" l& N9 nMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
8 Y1 H; S, h& i+ k# pMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. : f( V/ {5 b% J# V
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 0 J/ ?: `% L/ X0 l! V9 ^; v
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 4 H$ o* C8 J% h* G2 [
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
) L& M- a! h; C8 S  SAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
& m% J8 c( M5 ]+ `1 cIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
8 {4 L7 @' v: I1 FEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 2 h; r8 |3 O* M" k7 C
Qualifications
# I6 n8 h; _9 k9 C3 zA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
) Y9 E2 Z$ d0 G$ MPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. $ b3 p; v! f: D" S1 Q# q3 ^3 R; `
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
. Y9 s; P/ @1 H. G5 ^. L$ qPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
& J5 C; s+ R+ W3 rIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. + P) t+ T/ {" |$ \5 X
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. " \0 s) M- |6 H0 D! D  y/ L
