The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

7 n) t% k% C! Zthis multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
% C) q+ R9 `3 t# {- N% uexecution of the YWCA Strategy

! V3 F' E# t, L% Y S4 r2 CSpecific responsibilities include: 5 k+ S1 D/ y; F, U" ?$ C
* C) g5 k* ^: |7 ]9 D, U- e6 T8 b• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of ' \' N* v" D1 d7 j
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
) c9 E; m& v3 J- t3 e% v: k3 |the Board of Directors;
, U/ _( \* o& c0 m% Z: v0 p- Q• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
4 c5 {" a8 j# gincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to

* r0 X3 P& B: u/ \; w" d• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and / v& J% |( m8 k0 V
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

, L& _4 u; P1 ?- d& V0 ^. M• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; B8 d4 r l5 A7 x
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
2 B4 U- G9 c. Z$ w+ S# M5 Jthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; $ B3 ]! U$ E9 z! B: O
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 8 S" m# k, C/ }/ }. h
changing needs of the organization and community;
. V; w+ K% K9 {• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue + ^5 ^. a5 p8 q9 e
commitments;
8 ~; M: f& Y p; G( ~! m; l• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; * \! n& w$ c' ]" K2 P" s
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective + k9 Y, J5 W+ J
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; - z( X2 c: z X% D
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; % H* i6 |" p7 l& Q) @$ w# P
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
" d L" _( [; ~7 [, h, [effectively and positively represent the association; ) H7 @* z! [9 H# F

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
' V/ m( m$ ~6 }the implementation of systems to manage these risks; ! p3 V* Q5 \5 H
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
, Z& o( I5 u, n0 E1 @6 X# nperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED , d0 j+ R: S% [4 W, h3 d Q3 @
the forthcoming year;
8 X" U# ?' b! N+ O1 {5 w• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical : t! a/ U! g; g! P
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task / ~- X2 K9 z# t3 I" d1 Y

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
" i- A" G! b8 H" d1 v7 {! a5 g8 d8 }6 t• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 2 C" m9 U% U7 \( R, f
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ( d0 ]. e* A; r; N5 `
abilities;
9 y; L* e( Q, Y) i• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 5 U; k0 B2 R3 ?" x9 t0 v9 ?
Networking and Fundraising; 6 S2 {5 n+ [) n2 y" E* K; u: Y( ]
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 2 I$ M) ^/ S; @/ c
and financial statements; and
