What Makes Christmas Magical

are distant memories. Hearty indulgence in the many foods shared at Christmas ; y; X; ^' \, B5 k  |9 H
therefore doesn't produce the same feelings of guilt. Nevertheless, its not a 2 ]0 b4 G% _7 j) q
pleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then
) ^+ M- V8 t3 t2 z- deat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can
0 f; H8 T+ j6 z" v+ W9 n* bsmartly avoid it?
" j/ \  P! \( m1 ]% |* z6 }?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out 7 N: a. n8 b: p6 y! i- e, Q6 T4 p9 G
at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem 9 L; N' e* t3 U0 ^, r" l
to be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of . B8 ?$ L+ P. e, P8 O' u- Y
moderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a

be something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies
0 L* w- Y$ e3 Q/ b8 B# zare offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays
4 a6 L* s2 `+ n9 z9 ^especially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more 7 i! E  t3 R* @$ M) D
relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
. d. H! B5 l/ X3 ?5 `?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to ; w" a# m  e) Y+ i
substitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with
0 M, f/ C# N  r. u: E9 Ubreakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, 6 c1 \( E4 v) \& F
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to
2 C( w, T$ h% ~2 N7 h$ xtell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into + j7 c9 m1 E) I, k2 k, Z% A$ a
play. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will   X) |6 Y$ \6 a) x: {, W3 [% L
be watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or

heartily enjoying the holiday treats.?

and candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating
6 y% B  [5 Q! {. I$ L8 A5 R% W* d2 ~healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down 7 y  |% F- m  j* N9 A
upon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate
! X( r0 Z5 `/ i- J5 N2 q, p. }candies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies. ) ?5 l4 L4 f# J$ M
It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners & c# S5 q8 y, U, R6 {+ k

on a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected

At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of
