Robin Spielberg出生于一个音乐世家，七岁时便习练钢琴，孩提时还学过管风琴和小提琴。后来，她先后在密西根州立大学和纽约大学的戏剧系深造。毕业后，她曾在纽约的各大饭店弹琴为业,此经历为她起先的创作以及日后的事业奠定了坚实的基础。
