Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or # Y* v! S( I S7 t7 x2 S- \9 z
community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to 6 W9 I; ~0 v, B3 r$ x( T0 u8 c4 l
provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs.

0 h0 n$ r6 r7 R: z) l& R/ o Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
3 f6 z8 i2 x# s) f; n' D. ^The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, ! D; j# j7 ~8 |2 x
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
B1 V7 {0 G4 ]4 u8 K1 ], `0 WWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as , Z' Y' N1 e& Y, c0 c* T
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
8 I/ d; j; e: D, j3 S8 E% Hnewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial ; N) Q( v e) O- ]1 w, X
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental % l; {" @8 k' i6 |

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers. ) b" K* u0 R$ Q2 g

Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
/ _- ~4 r0 f3 D$ Pexperience in Social Work or related human service fields.

$ V6 X' z: X! v n$ }support needs
