Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or
! t c* [" }: P2 D& S0 Ucommunity cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to
/ W# V- _5 u5 x4 `; ]provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs.

Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. 8 M3 G0 ~0 W. |" @' W
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, ! I! ^; B8 K+ y' b; { l* O
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social 8 [; r( \- ?: @ Q+ o
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as ( O9 @* r C0 z4 m! F6 _- p% Q7 S, i
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for 4 U4 l. `/ m- P& S- k( Y- W: }
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial 8 H L6 H$ S. _- H
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-/ C% p( R% s% L; a6 Q5 s8 X
centered delivery model.

Accesses comprehensive, up-to-date information about services and resources available

Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served. & N" a6 Z3 a7 e. i3 R
Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers. : a5 v1 A' ]! S$ [0 z3 P, X/ c
Treat all clients with dignity and patience in order to listen deeply and give thoughtful ' f1 t) T7 h+ V& n

8 N0 |- x4 o `; I, Z Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
$ q% r/ w! @" E$ |# Dexperience in Social Work or related human service fields.
, n2 e4 z% K. ^& ^ Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family

7 D/ }5 l: p8 _" b+ e Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications

Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field * }& U0 `6 [, N0 W
