FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

Enterprise Data
( e! |7 v2 o1 k1 y  F4 @• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
( j4 @' d1 C/ O6 ?& W1 [# C• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.

• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
6 @: H  [- ~" l' c0 ?• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
' G4 X% A. t' ?' K  G• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
! K' T# |/ w1 I' X) h' k& Z1 c& T• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
4 {  S. R7 u  F- |4 G$ w+ Z) F• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
) q# t/ u2 S& m0 F• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
; k2 [' ^8 U+ P• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
+ p& O( P7 d5 H! }• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
" H& ]2 p( Q+ q• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
6 [+ `( y* {& Q/ n% t2 {) r$ J• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
