FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
' @# f) T; @4 l: z• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
" k1 a# g! U8 c0 T# s• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
4 M% I8 _0 R" p6 l5 H* [• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

8 o4 r" c+ R1 P3 N& p( a% pSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
! Q. Y. Q" }  |/ S, a1 S8 k• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
7 \+ m2 F8 C& x, A; n• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
" L) ?! u2 @& h% @0 Q, h% f/ ]0 {• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
( z1 C: O8 X9 ~6 a1 G% [• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
