As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Z% Y, u+ h2 o% j- aEnterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
7 F4 Y0 M/ J; j- Y; b• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

4 V5 c: W7 B) @: J2 I• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
/ S9 c! x6 }- l0 [6 Y• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
, M+ Z  ^' [& y9 H• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
% G; b. d4 E2 \. G  j• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
0 L7 X" F" Q) w: c$ a/ H% C2 H• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
" t1 j% H7 m& E- O2 C& S7 G1 X1 z• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

% s9 o; `4 @, [$ \4 C; \+ jSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
& S+ V  |9 F: @1 q  H• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
3 ~: v# |9 J- p4 ~% G• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
0 f; O, K6 E( T1 L• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
& m( x- w: s+ x! ^• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
5 c' k, N9 Y3 W6 F' U* d8 T• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
- C/ F2 J% j: z" p• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
