Responsibilities
( m- `) L$ ~! B# } Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
 Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
( z, E( s+ e& K  Z" ?" J Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
9 r6 T# Z) L2 C' l Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
  \% l1 Q, R* {6 z: h Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
; f, M7 z6 k' |  J$ a  v5 Z& { Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
% `8 A3 M- }, P5 T" b3 \3 J0 u, v Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

Qualifications
 Social work degree or diploma
* B# ]7 w0 v5 s. Q* V Current RSW designation preferred   
 Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
 Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
. l' Z: i5 j3 T9 B8 ]5 |% r Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
# U3 s& u. H9 f! Z! j* h- Q Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
5 `% ~. ?4 w% G. c+ ]8 F Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
+ m+ u4 P( n" O# p' f2 ^ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
 Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.


EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
