Responsibilities
: T! f, \) l! U; D: O( _- C9 v8 Z Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
 Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
 Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
" x/ K. R' q; }2 [ Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
3 z7 M9 h! s, S  z- Y+ c Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
* Q6 [/ U* a( m. J# z# { Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
( e. V0 S' }; J/ @1 P" [ Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

5 a5 G( R% J7 ]2 y: R Social work degree or diploma
 Current RSW designation preferred   
# {9 B" E) b0 E- }7 f Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
6 L. q6 M6 H. B8 @0 H+ S! F Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
- O( ~6 O3 F: c# G& ` Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
 Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
3 }7 n. ~  ]6 P' {0 z) @" Y Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
4 B% |) r) i9 u# r, } Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
/ [% H! a1 O0 k) X# S2 X( i8 Z4 G Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.

EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
