senator, he advocated the impeachment of then-Gov. Mike Lowry for alleged
sexual harassment.

5 @5 D3 J1 @" O5 d* C/ E% dWest was involved in a sex scandal in 2005. He was accused of sexually
abusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
and Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
# A0 t' U) L1 ]2 u$ W2 ]5 s9 V9 ^to lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
* K4 p& z+ \/ a- a; q* Sallegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
  ?; m( d. [, U6 |; j8 t( }relationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

West confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied
the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
2 x0 w# B6 ~- L) J" IBiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were
just graduating from high school - none of whom, however, under the age of
18.

; ]1 R1 ~3 @1 Z" S+ e( \Colorado; a founder of the Association of Life-Giving Churches; and was
2 m3 W; J$ k3 }" `" F4 V1 _leader of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) from 2003[1] until

% x& L$ b6 s1 g6 T8 \" v( lIn November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership
! K8 W: a9 E, T* |  I' v& dpositions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual
% ]+ v) {/ z" t: S/ Gsex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
& ~: F" S8 e. [) g  U0 y+ bbut as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
+ k0 D8 y6 A4 f3 A/ F, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
immorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

! C2 k  D- ]+ |8 F+ V( aAfter the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
6 |- Q$ s# R  `. @& `1 f1 w$ bcounseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
ministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
. ?4 n! ]: a( b' l' bRalph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
embrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to
receive counseling, and now he says that he is a “heterosexual with issues.

On January 23, 2009, officials from Haggard's former church announced that a

relationship [that] went on for a long period of time [with Haggard] ... it
; l! A4 F! R: n8 _/ c- Qwasn't a one-time act."[76] Haggard's successor, Brady Boyd, said the church
, a8 Z. V1 ?4 G/ X8 U" Wreached a six figure settlement with the man, who was in his early 20s at
the time.[78] According to the man, he said the contact was "not consensual"
and this is not about "opening new wounds" it's about a much larger issue.[
