under the age of 18 (the bill failed). He would later admit that he
regretted voting for those measures.[1] In 1995, when West was a state
senator, he advocated the impeachment of then-Gov. Mike Lowry for alleged
sexual harassment.

5 N* w6 S' x! N& k$ pWest was involved in a sex scandal in 2005. He was accused of sexually
' H; i. k0 B( K- Zabusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
and Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
to lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
6 {' A& [2 G5 B- M' A: c5 Z; C$ u* qallegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
3 r( A$ ~0 `" y6 `$ }# k% @: V- O3 srelationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

West confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied
the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
- N1 \% s/ r- O, LBiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were
just graduating from high school - none of whom, however, under the age of

In November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership

, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
immorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
0 U' m5 L- l) Mministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
