This is right 最后一个月不用交房租 in Ontario. However, in Ontario, you have to pay double rent for your first month.

For example, your monthly rent is $1000, you should make a $2000 money order paid to your landlord before you move in. The extra $1000 is hold by your landlord for your last month rent. If you want to move out, you have to give a notice at least 60 days earlier and landlord will do a pre-moving out inspection. If they detect big repair or replacement, they will write to you about the fee and if you refuse to pay, they will sue you. Landlord still can bill you for clean- up after your moving out. As I know, rent is much higher in Ontario than in Alberta. I guess part of the rent goes to the final clean-up.

Never think of not to pay rent. You will damage your credit, and you will get trouble for you next time rental or credit card application. |
