In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.

SEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada.

% t" U9 T: }% `' w" I1 L3 M• conduct socio-economic market and policy research
1 c! h$ u/ I3 x& S5 t2 W• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners / f4 j ?" }7 ~$ h9 [5 J& l8 I9 n
• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation 7 x! W6 k; a8 H) u; }
• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs
: |9 {* T7 ^6 p; h0 I2 h• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits - K4 V. e9 D2 k) @3 Q
• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses

Primary Responsibilities and Activities:
, B( j# L0 T" c• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada % S! ^" F, g( O! g5 k# |, F l
• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc) ' [# I: ~) ]2 O* O- a8 r
• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required ) p) K, g2 N; y x& Q
• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities - P( E& W( N @* @% s
• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
7 u8 l& X3 g$ u8 P3 ]* ]* a) r5 m• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required , X$ N' _; e( }0 T& k+ l) M4 e# u3 _
Other Activities:# `* q* z3 R4 R
• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies 1 Z% w/ y- L1 b# U1 m4 j
• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners 5 x8 l+ q5 }2 R0 P! `6 B
• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting + z- i1 Z Q& z/ j
• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports + c& D; Z4 E5 T: j( J2 N
• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning - F" ]; i- [/ }/ q. |
Primary Qualifications:
: t" Q7 ]; j7 \9 N• Demonstrated group facilitation experience 0 m$ D0 [6 P% r5 u3 a! n/ u
• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media
' b0 o( Z* ?" J• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training
+ t9 m" `+ [" ~& D O/ A* l! O• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities
x7 n% d) S7 d7 O• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams . M# X9 K) ]4 I1 a
• Passion, enthusiasm and deep commitment to the SEDI mission, vision, values and goals
5 M) H; X! d' d% F+ U• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts - G; R! @( r8 j& @8 T
• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them # c0 W+ H% W1 P
• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc

• Content / curriculum development experience
M5 t4 V" A/ G) k/ o• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners 8 _4 L( w& D# ~" l6 \, _
• Excellent organizational skills
! T4 O' R$ S/ ?$ Y6 L• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc. 6 L4 y$ L% ]& U( d/ _
• Ability in French (both written and oral) is an asset

• Marketing and communication experience an asset
