In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.

SEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada. 5 X' |$ l. ~8 o- ^' V( b
SEDI is staffed to:
1 f+ h6 \; A: Y# E+ ^0 D• conduct socio-economic market and policy research 1 j7 v& b/ o' E" k/ r/ E* p, q
• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners ) Y2 m9 k, L* I* m; B
• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation
( V1 g( i5 U( ?" y: r# D• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs
1 h! G$ l% Y2 _& r3 f: ]' o• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits & a' L d, [+ f) K
• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses

Primary Responsibilities and Activities:
/ { {+ R9 m9 u2 `• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada 8 I! h, r; R6 J2 r2 S7 c; e
• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc) 5 X, W: a2 a7 ^4 I
• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required
, A. a: I# u6 [$ v6 n4 S• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities 7 I" F1 O. M6 u+ V3 N
• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
# k. P1 H3 D- z- Q3 u$ C• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required + f, |- B% f. @* z1 J, K
Other Activities:$ e* f& l9 R0 O* M6 ]% t0 b
• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies 2 `2 G5 {( K; n0 R5 {
• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners ! r) k) v2 R7 g( S( }. ^& `! X0 U
• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting
: y8 c3 x- y- W& y• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports ! d3 J/ M9 K2 V6 I( Z( S1 y& S7 V
• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning

• Demonstrated group facilitation experience $ n1 c2 p0 y% j9 M
• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media 1 h$ y3 I, j8 q3 s3 P# L
• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training

• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts
# K1 T( [: Q ]( T( H• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them
+ ?* u" q. X! G& v9 @4 y; J. A• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc
) e$ T/ `- `0 C6 D( v9 C# o, w# z• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education
1 q* o( g1 H+ p' S• Content / curriculum development experience
. w* t' @7 Q. X( T, l• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners ( N/ x* V% g0 k5 a
• Excellent organizational skills
% ^! E6 G1 d ]+ z. w% k7 n9 V• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc.
9 D; o$ x `2 {& }& I% Q: i• Ability in French (both written and oral) is an asset

• Marketing and communication experience an asset
