In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.

SEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada. , g" K+ G$ R5 k% l, k7 r
SEDI is staffed to: ; x; m, I0 w7 E6 m; `
• conduct socio-economic market and policy research
" m# c2 u3 C& [; v# Q• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners
5 L. r" f `9 b# |9 r# J9 j9 z• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation
5 ~, p1 C% H% \; B• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs
/ v+ C: G2 b' r0 \# ]# I• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits
$ p! n) g$ ?* V/ C* _• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses
+ f) O' a; y7 W, E' \( \• to work to reduce economic vulnerability in Canada * F& [ o& F; K5 R3 z
Primary Responsibilities and Activities:
1 O, t" f4 }. P5 w3 l+ C4 q• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada
6 B2 |" V2 a6 e) S* z1 _• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc) # N+ K# f- m- m* @; E& _
• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required 1 o) ^$ j/ h$ @' r
• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities # O7 |( M3 r1 L; P D# c
• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
" l# Y# Y) t" w6 M n7 U/ R! J/ Y• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required
$ O7 r' `' ~1 X$ COther Activities:
1 v- K3 E$ L& W• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies " g' {5 G, l: k+ E$ R$ d
• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners 8 p1 V0 x) n2 y$ V8 C: r, h
• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting
+ d" e2 m1 y% _5 Z• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports ! I- [; B& G4 f3 z- n0 ]
• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning

• Demonstrated group facilitation experience
?' s7 y1 {+ M• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media
& c0 I) {0 i/ B- o! g" k) y6 v9 j• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training 9 k l1 a5 i P+ {
• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities
' Y/ [! u( L/ D5 h+ z% y, s, o6 F• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams
& K5 K) @" c( |. W7 t* V• Passion, enthusiasm and deep commitment to the SEDI mission, vision, values and goals
& q3 J) J/ O {5 t• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts
! ]5 U7 k1 `- q* [( h• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them
) w: p3 v5 l+ S' K9 d% d5 }• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc
f- q3 C- @2 w" E( K• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education % J& }( d' Y# _; Y6 a& a% ~# C
• Content / curriculum development experience
% y3 E# _) o9 x• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners
( e, J! }# R4 }1 \) g& K* \5 v• Excellent organizational skills * r+ I5 ?- I, S& K0 U1 R8 Y" B) O
• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc. 2 C5 }% H/ y6 N0 w
• Ability in French (both written and oral) is an asset ( L2 S& u) z6 K E9 I
• Policy research skill set is an asset $ f& o% ?1 ^ `* W9 D
• Marketing and communication experience an asset
