T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip
/ j1 D3 O/ P# w5 X" LAsian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering % i3 b s+ M N
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on 2 m( z. U8 [2 U+ e( Y; x
interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development, 9 g) Z+ q" y1 t) f1 S7 Q
and Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.; f1 |5 o' y' `- V; e. K

What will take place in the sessions?

2 h9 g3 j0 ?6 {" Y9 O& qRegular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.8 W0 h0 @* [# f2 O
Summer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
' I0 K' _3 R. ^/ l" q8 L2 v4 N 2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily

Who can participate?, ]9 _; t+ |9 t8 `
Asian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

5 ?8 ?: K4 {3 zWhat is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
5 B; y8 m/ e' X u. v/ s! q4 c6 [It is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.

Volunteer’s Duties:, I: m5 C' F# L' w! S$ z( U& ]
8 e1 x- Q* j. w( h- F. L" O Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
2 p) ^+ G1 C! S+ G Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development , o0 O: z% z# _2 `6 z
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
( [! D5 n. u4 s Z Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
# B1 Z3 l7 {8 O% A' w0 c; U- a3 K2 Q Research activities related to the sessions’ topic# B" @4 G8 Q: I0 n0 H* H d' J6 }# Q8 k. J
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips

 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)- {! }" S' \4 {* ?" T
 One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer9 W2 P' h& \0 O, W

 Open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youth in the program

 Able to work independently with minimum supervision

 Willing to work with youth including youth at risk
