- G( D0 l& x1 W2 B3 iYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
, M( f0 U( Q$ KAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
, e" g+ i3 B$ q$ q( I5 H0 X4 H5 `nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
9 u, d. H4 g3 w  z) ^* Speacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
. K# ]1 C; u8 ?
project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
* O& B4 F( v: Pemployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
3 i4 Q  G1 F4 g0 IThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
* e! _; n7 x+ z1 ~1 athe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
5 R2 F" w2 O1 ?- {# e8 Opersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
" |* ^7 |' c( C0 W, O/ f% C8 O- ]! s2 q8 bAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
; \: R0 K  t, M( R' H! e" |% Ufollow-up once the program is completed.

3 g7 Z9 f. @; g* O) n, GVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
