Edmonton public school trustees want to eliminate provincial achievement tests in elementary schools.

Trustees voted 7-1 Tuesday to reconsider testing students in Grades 3 and 6.

During the provincial Conservative leadership race, Premier Alison Redford promised to eliminate the tests for Grade 3 students.

The motion has no legal weight as provincial legislation is required to eliminate the tests.

我是支持考试的。它至少是一个衡量标准，上了６年学，连一次象样的考试都没有，怎么来评价教师和学校，怎么知道学生到底学得怎么样，太没谱了。几年才考一次，还有压力，真是有点那个。

我两个小孩参加过这个考试，有的学校重视，临时准备一下，成绩就上去了，反正每年考题差不多。其实对小学生没有丝毫压力，对初中会有一些，因为算成绩。不过学校排名就是根据这一个考试，有多大参考价值就看个人理解了。我觉得如果一年考2次或许更可信，减少了一些偶然因素。不过在加拿大重视全面发展，考试行不通。

爱城的小学基本每班一个老师，教书，考试，评价全是一个老师，象我孩子去年的老师，自己连读书报告都不会写，智商EQ判断力超低的一个老师，他的评语评价不但没有用还是错漏百出的。而PAT考试的评分算是比较客观的一个，也是唯一一个。各校的考生考试后由老师先评一个分，然后7月送到中心，由各地有经验的老师组成的评分团再次评分，如果第二次的评分与第一次评分有不同，由第三位老师进行第三次评分。幸好有这个考试，我才知道孩子的真正水平，和他老师的评分相差很大一截，差了一个半级。
5 p7 x  @8 S1 V" U* ?% |; O% Q另外一个例子，我孩子学校不止一个老师，甚至校长都说考试会给学生带来压力，为什么要拿A呢，拿A那么麻烦。其中一个老师在3月的时候说不会考数学，会给学生带来压力，结果4月连通知都不发一下，就给学生考了一场试，试题是针对全年的，也就是说包括5月6月未教的东西。几个家长对此很不满，校长老师说学生的成绩与老师没有关系，全是因为孩子的质素。（你从娘胎出来，懂就懂，不懂还是不懂，老师是没用的。）
很想说，这爱城教育有点烂根和懒根。考试不但是测评学生到底学了多少，还体现了老师教了多少，怎么教，哪里能改进帮助学生学更多。考试还能让家长学生从客观的渠道真正了解学生的真实水平，而不是单听从老师的主观意见。如果以怕学生压力大为借口取消，还不如说是老师自己怕压力（因为排名对比）。
