Job Description:
% N4 s G+ i6 ~8 |4 `1 C) G• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
* n; i E1 u3 s' A( X) a8 x5 E• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
( {( J! ~ L O• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers: c" f' ?& N* a
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams8 v4 w/ K' A: t) D& q$ F
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place* @' m7 R) _* Y: D1 { E2 G5 [6 t
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
5 x# t# {$ k% Q' B- X( B/ b• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
7 U5 ]' P, @5 B, M9 P3 Z& S& R: V• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
$ G0 C* Z& [" O! {' ], [• Mix paint, blend and match colors L. X1 y7 b* Y N3 l
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns. D; w2 p, w# w% D4 n
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
% H: }% l7 u& K+ x• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation' A b3 T# R7 p. G0 X9 O
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling" N5 [* b0 G* X# V
Education and Experience Requirements:
% i. Q; v% D' ]' a+ v% ~# t• Completion of secondary school is required- G) p& b. g- y O
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program
y7 E g. M4 E. E! Q/ a, f7 K! q/ Wor1 `0 o- q9 {5 e
A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
& u6 f# L# l; N' v( ~• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory & l9 N$ G% ?5 ~$ }# `8 p
