Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3, ~7 N! |: @, \9 N9 S
megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution" X3 l7 I# W' o; Z }4 J* f
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
& O& [/ J" p7 Tmatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance* j n' Y0 B3 M. A: J& N* G: M
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
0 a, @' m4 O$ c+ u+ v, R( `- nallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
6 i$ N' d+ H: Nwithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography* }& r3 ]+ u5 t, g4 q, o5 u
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
) A" h: y' g% bimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was
& u3 u/ U4 E! r' c8 Lwidely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and' c. u2 S) j$ ^& h2 F1 T; H$ w: B
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown* G6 G( V& ]' y9 F2 K
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,/ a' }! D2 t8 L; o z" v6 S
thanks to the D800.. Y% W) }3 A8 K. ~# ^8 D& G
When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
. P) ?1 F* l3 F36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic9 q! a( ^, y3 z. q) A# Z
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces% a+ [0 G6 j+ Q9 d$ p5 F) {( `& |
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a2 O( D/ i4 h- T8 @* t4 ?
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as' ~9 h5 Y) M- z5 F7 ?$ l2 k! o' R
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.1 N# i; x) A: s D8 j, r
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor3 Y" S& L6 o0 K" f, h# z' ^
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is2 I* @8 L0 n) u; X; m+ I2 X6 D6 q
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
& N) {4 C. ~3 ]9 [0 m. X, R* Falso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New6 D" @9 b( o6 |5 N* d2 }8 v
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
' V9 |, D- I" n5 l& q9 d4 ?in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality# ~$ J9 G b) w" i$ K M
prints and video.1 p6 q9 L8 `9 _) S* t
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is8 s) t9 { T+ B" H% g
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models5 P6 g5 ^ v" l/ o, N4 S
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
9 T+ n( _% y6 E Hcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first- n9 [, @( |( J' I& c4 b
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws) G' o" Z: }" s
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of; c2 Z- G, {( [: L
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I+ T% A5 l9 `% n. L0 \* p
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as( ~% \; [* Y& g8 B
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
# l7 \% i& H% ~ ?1 ephotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
5 w v& _$ o0 e) w- [& _" otremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
* C3 B1 s' @+ G3 r4 T4 _" R6 ]D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
_) p/ P# }6 X9 }7 r" I+ _is that now I will think differently about the images I make.1 r5 M L6 y" U* O! U* s
As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they% f" |1 a/ M1 S0 ~1 U& Q5 C
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly; m9 Z5 ~7 H. @- i( O# M
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
" L8 P3 S6 ]2 k0 r b0 ?to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional
