Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression5 O4 S5 _3 i- S( b6 E2 p

now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.38 V% p: R2 C9 L& i* I9 j! G
megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution
: q3 @- Q; P9 f# A! n1 z5 [within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color8 a; n& d: {" M, H6 g
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance6 E$ d8 p: o3 y3 x ?1 T# \! l
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800: g3 C8 V. k' X$ v
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
+ G5 A7 Q/ p9 u1 `0 Gwithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography& Y3 B) U- q9 t7 f! j
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
# ~7 x. e) A7 Eimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was

convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown, D( _0 y) k$ j8 ~3 ?
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,

well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
) E" w7 g& b. n7 eAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor' S6 r' a2 s: P9 a+ h6 m' h
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
2 h3 N/ M% T+ J2 ~1 {1 keasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while4 Y3 I% q/ U* O0 Y; J v! C9 R
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
4 h+ q! J" w* ?+ B7 x# X3 Icameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
4 y9 U+ I4 R/ o5 v3 ]5 R! kin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality$ P' {6 g" d* K$ z0 s

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
, p% _" I* a9 p! f6 Y' N/ Q% znot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
& J' Q# u3 ` r- h/ ^) j uare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using5 u; y1 R9 i5 S4 P( E# A( X2 u
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
w2 o9 C, F7 N x6 B' [5 x5 nsight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws5 |8 P3 |' P4 o! Z' c
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of! _6 ?- L1 W# K; p
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I$ C6 I- N/ }$ z c) Q+ Y; F" y
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as3 q. _# d3 b# E, j- |( m
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse% Z% }5 I) o' q( Q6 M% x
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add# q8 h/ l, A M; S2 M
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the

is that now I will think differently about the images I make.

compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal
