Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
* z4 V7 l7 N( Ymatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
. T$ Q% B7 n$ p7 Rin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
; c( W& |" S: yallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject8 g2 X2 ^: i# d4 L. c2 }
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
& |9 j \4 q% ]6 twas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
6 ]! G" {4 g$ T6 C; f4 Kimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was- D8 v) ?# l7 U) j& M0 C1 d; j9 e: r
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
7 c. {9 d3 \2 R% E/ ]. O$ u9 R7 @convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown. A8 P* D" O. [. [( r
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,+ Q! n3 f2 n8 ^2 @" ~8 m% q
thanks to the D800.
2 X1 t4 P9 [( R3 v8 s! [- B, _When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location," V L ?9 D$ Z3 k+ ]# z3 Y
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic. w$ ]( o& F$ J; }6 K9 z* c
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces% Y7 @( r! _, G+ A) q9 g
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a% f; t8 }) l9 H/ o) G. `
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as, i: z: A' Y2 E, Q- Z+ r& E* l
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
4 N: d* V4 l8 ^8 x l4 s% YAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
! h* [ G: c |& A4 t+ Ihas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is; Z* h& O5 q+ B( t2 d6 ~
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
4 p1 `; _2 a3 W- s' Salso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
, {" y( D. `' x4 a8 U |! @% G3 \cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features9 S2 n" B& k( M# W7 ^* E0 s5 ~9 j
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
7 o/ ^* A' T6 p1 x7 ^8 q2 [not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models, l! r0 m0 u$ v
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
. E) D1 e1 n' I; A7 o+ {countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first% [. n2 U3 Q- A k( h
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
2 Z# B: \0 s3 \3 K: }5 vlike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of Y6 g1 { @ C0 S# n: g
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I( Y% C% l3 O% d" `/ s/ V1 ]
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
7 N% C2 T# f% e8 }9 `' n# [though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse" d) Z5 {. i) D& w) I
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add1 ~/ R7 s* e- s. {, i. U* e, Z7 w' v; s
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the2 f, F- ^/ Q* w2 z: }- J
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,

quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for

perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly3 {6 K9 {% R3 g s% A
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility) m7 n/ M9 p5 s+ C D
to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional
/ e: F* \& q/ |& `range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
