6 v, A$ r. o, u4 h9 C5 Tin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
: ]* j; k. L/ m5 rallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject( B' w3 |% W4 j7 v0 P) l
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
" V6 M. ~! I0 hwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum: t) r0 w/ k1 m" q3 {# w2 g) G5 ]
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was! w$ P+ D5 T% Q3 R/ x7 }3 d2 k
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
5 @- X. t2 W1 Nconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
2 k2 g) n. S% d! hbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,5 p- l7 y& X, I9 G8 [* p7 q, S
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic7 B* }+ r: _( z. _
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
4 l b: A y: W9 `* B/ Rthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a1 ]: U/ f4 \) V, u8 @6 j, H* @' j; y
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as2 q V. Z0 b+ F1 o
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.) G! g+ j' ~( B2 p% _# e
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor* ]5 l# g& G) q6 D9 Z
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
8 C9 B+ w" S9 V8 y2 t7 }6 A8 _% ?easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
6 e. m& o- M: n4 ]; d. P& Halso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
! e$ y5 A! p* m1 j( [cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features( O0 Y% g& b W. S( Z
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
8 x4 r3 @" d b) bprints and video.
8 @6 P: y3 w4 B- ?! ATo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
% p1 m& {; e4 w# V9 n. lnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models n2 G) z& D) i: l$ @
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
# u+ X4 x# H; t5 d! p% C0 Ucountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
8 I8 N) B) s& e& _9 fsight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws3 B/ Z: ?0 M# r. r! g
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of7 @# Q7 n& z) {9 z4 E) Q8 r& y
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I0 H2 F/ A' _0 `/ u
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
5 d5 r) h/ N* Q7 Qthough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
2 v* u* _0 o6 x: s+ Rphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add4 c* F9 N9 M' y# z) b
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the" y9 u) [8 _) q
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express6 p2 d3 u, ?- L5 J0 J
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.
% H" i' o% T0 s Q8 rAs a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
" ^4 m) j2 u! |4 p, `# i* rcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal0 P3 ?, q) Z7 n% a
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for1 k R$ B, c8 ~( S1 k2 \" t/ W4 g
the high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital

quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for7 e! |3 X3 n$ F0 i# V9 d
architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they

clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
