now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3

within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color) E6 T! {! o/ E% b
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance/ Z3 R. J+ ?) g8 c
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
* Z+ A% B* [3 J8 Kallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject: @( d8 ?6 C/ j
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography

image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was

convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
% }2 y V" `% L; r1 J ibefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,7 k) n# E9 |& f1 G( P8 i
thanks to the D800.. l' u; s* g+ o: j( m' z
When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
0 ]! ?$ {: Z6 l; O/ c H/ H3 g) s36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
: u- H; L8 Q8 x/ z5 E" zrange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces V' s! n& E5 A; H7 v" o
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a/ z7 V, [ T( B: f
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as: U+ G: _- @& l8 n1 {4 y
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
) i- b$ u" q/ I6 { E" R+ V; yAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor9 _* u8 p/ _3 p: q9 L
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
/ r5 K5 E$ {' z, {easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
: I+ I5 z4 t" J k+ Ralso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New' t; ?! l+ X: H1 U5 |' t7 E: Q
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
( [* R: a! e& O# r8 Y0 s2 z' R7 qin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
5 e( A {& r0 {1 b: r$ w( n" x. oprints and video.
5 f, @ |& B) s/ {0 z" ^To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is* f* i6 Q* X) y0 t. ?9 o
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models' j0 w/ F4 ^" i, J. P* E& t
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using2 t: \( K) \" d' t6 A$ j7 T7 D
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first$ H$ R+ l4 N6 t- E+ j4 N8 |
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws4 Q# w# f: q8 H1 l7 c% U
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
- i" j& F0 h5 J L% r# nacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I' Z' A- o( |, W! B" n
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as3 f. e: a2 _) ~( i
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
/ D& s8 Q5 J$ d$ P" G: j2 Nphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add* T# @/ f5 W7 G2 h, Q9 y. N O
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
4 [ d( n/ [) i8 Z/ E( Y6 kD800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express+ I" j. G8 W8 ^# f! s4 A
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.
' j( I7 p8 N3 B5 M5 ^. s/ YAs a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
! L) _( ~" L' i( Q. d$ Y+ C! P! Fcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal

perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
" y9 @; n: x2 h6 ^7 f4 {( Rclean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
! d+ j& z( g% Fto work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional7 J5 _9 i! N6 ]
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
