now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3
5 z& _1 a! H! \. f+ M2 pmegapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution7 e6 s- A; [$ u. _# ~/ a6 D) d: M4 Y4 P
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color5 _4 L+ I4 t m( U
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance! ^) U" o' m: u; P# P
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
9 J0 m& ?) L7 M) Y/ Rallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
4 x" H2 G6 d& a& V! H& h6 z+ w' h; h& B7 Jwithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography5 `' k. Y' z f# b+ Q7 W4 m$ d
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum$ \5 v: |" k+ ~
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was
9 Z1 P4 E2 W. U0 @* Q# kwidely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
: ^1 t" Q' q. ]convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
t3 `$ Z/ ]# \before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,, H' X. D& f! A) K& L3 ^
thanks to the D800.% i: Y8 \4 W& k8 f! D' O
When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,8 [3 P) r8 P7 l$ v2 k- W
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic n( I* e6 ~- f1 A, c8 i) _
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces; |0 q. m; c# }3 p% A9 U1 a7 M
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a M$ C1 @7 d2 z
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as

+ X5 |2 b+ s' Jalso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
0 h4 G' y* v9 [" A9 v/ Xcameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features N# }, W, k3 U# i( L, P
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
5 ]# c1 y% a* K- M& Qprints and video.
( r9 f2 C; }/ a. o; wTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
% h# k/ e0 G1 A: Z) X7 `not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
+ X) N& ?7 R" M6 ware important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using5 h2 I: x0 H" @8 P5 Q0 V
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first1 g3 k j* D; J6 E! e6 a8 v
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
4 v* y6 T8 j: w" \9 jlike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
" L( a" ~! L4 p/ `# t$ H1 iacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I$ d- k( M, O! |6 @
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as' l% J- }$ p' }
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse! V* X- q3 U; [4 f" T; Z
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add. P% V+ `) g" X m# ^
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
. `7 }! X. C' G. _9 y iD800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight, \, j, D3 N9 g0 K) n! L/ l% Q1 J

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
