allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject. w4 {% l, j8 u, n8 s; F
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
; n- g7 o' M5 Q$ j h8 r, Awas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum7 ~/ k" f: u5 S s3 g4 w; m9 h
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was
}! e4 |. p( t! v: `! h; W9 e1 r, Nwidely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and j J% T( u1 M$ y+ i9 j+ q }
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown

range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
6 v6 J- v$ a# a4 O$ mthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a4 p9 Q0 f$ ^* {9 ]' U9 u
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as

Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor( B+ H/ G* t6 `6 Y$ P
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
2 [$ h M) y8 Aeasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
4 ? t+ @! c% J. z! I! ealso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
/ M* p8 [# A7 @0 H8 ~7 K' L( p6 I, x9 tcameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
/ n0 {* v0 K, {in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
( Q# ?' ], B3 @: p6 ?, qnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
# v# r0 O e( Q9 v6 B. a6 k! Qare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using( @5 W0 w. @& E! J7 n2 x1 B* \
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
" ?* V' f2 T. [" P9 P3 N+ Q' Ysight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
; f8 n8 e% X; ^like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of) l; Y# Q% q" F& e9 G7 c7 ~
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I+ T2 K( r3 I; B, _
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
9 [$ q4 w6 U" Gthough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse4 e, ]) j/ L4 t f0 @ d* p1 D
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add4 [7 b! ]# O# ]2 `3 R+ X
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the$ d$ `6 r! B( W; j9 A7 y2 l
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express. t& n, t" c7 ~: H9 u! t6 }5 E1 [
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.4 K6 |6 U, a/ V! z/ o/ x
As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
z9 r$ c' H4 l B" ccompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal
& j6 `2 ]) C O* Oartistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for
, g! A/ L% Q2 Z1 a' }# Sthe high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital; }$ Y8 p+ w% v8 x$ g
camera that produces images with such exceptional quality and detail till3 [+ f* N) a5 H, R9 J
now. Particularly, the live view mode enables extremely precise compositions
- H( ?6 [" F0 F9 [5 S0 g9 nand easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior
* V3 M! D. Q5 v" \& N$ s, Kquality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for% z) L% j* }! Y4 r: P6 s
architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
+ H; L/ P& h1 S& Gperfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly1 W" u' O, G( {- a$ D5 p9 n6 {
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
! I+ e7 h; x& y; ^to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional7 l, _# t) O6 N
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
