Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color& m0 ?0 b2 @% D
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
, B# g! N$ P9 F! Fin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800# X9 D" ]. K V( e
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
' M# Y+ Q+ P7 i; o7 D. z3 z; swithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography- z3 L2 I5 D5 Z {5 @$ `: C
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum

convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown

9 z9 |, |/ G- N) L1 p3 Qeasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
/ G Q( U" `; m o7 s9 {6 F9 lalso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
) V. ]( A2 N3 L7 {cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
+ }. E0 J7 h- _in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality) W) |4 U3 Y9 i, q) _, t7 x, Y

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is( f% c) A1 C2 c B2 Q" s3 j) y6 H
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models9 X$ q6 W3 Q6 Z! l$ R) w4 R
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
1 E m( B& M! K* `: ocountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
$ E9 ~$ O$ o9 o3 [9 @" S4 v4 lsight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws( i- M Z$ X* N, y5 u8 M7 Q# U
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of9 U* ^+ R) K6 y& _; g( d
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I+ _0 { q- y, T6 d- p, @+ f
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as W. T, w) e3 g. b( Q7 u4 y& h
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse$ }+ \. f! S7 R3 n) ~8 O1 J
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add

D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express# d9 I F& D; Z" a
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.
