Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

7 W7 n' ]" m. b' t; y. n! lmegapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution. B( ?+ u, K$ q! \' I+ ], r# n) b8 S7 A
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color2 o) V/ j* t3 Q0 R# j% \! h
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance- f8 {* c" k+ M. ^* J
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800$ c! |) V% ^! Q; Y" F
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
' F4 ^7 P1 Z4 D7 Hwithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography# S; P8 A& S, t3 e7 C
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum& c& k, c7 N9 v, B5 v; ^
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was
, V& R" i) x5 G# P9 y; owidely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
& F% N% @+ k/ k8 R% W8 Y7 j2 g* Yconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
3 K+ ?2 m, A( l3 L! Nbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

" \. `3 E& z+ S6 o5 _4 EWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
3 X) ]: ~) I9 H36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic5 b: d V; h9 Z# P2 \
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
6 ^" O6 S0 r1 [% @1 z+ a1 t1 Rthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
% ?* f& B8 G* `9 T0 p0 BD-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as% K& Z6 |/ N6 ?
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.6 G' B; }( y- E% \8 p% d
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor. ?' W4 A; N5 z5 w9 i
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
& j& \' ?6 r. Y9 f5 ^( feasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while& k0 J* ~2 T6 l; Y
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New* E0 t, @' h' N( b
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features4 N U9 u0 B% [
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality5 V1 {% [9 G: f! u
prints and video.
7 H$ _4 I7 l+ q4 k" zTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
) S1 B3 h3 F [. Y2 Y7 wnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
" A! d0 g7 G5 D4 d% a/ ^are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
$ ]/ |. Z+ Q- n6 l5 h; v" ?3 S: Kcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
& g; i. x5 x' }- m$ Bsight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
( C& S* w+ G4 e% n) blike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of: r0 `9 h" O% {5 [/ T- m$ Q0 H
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
. C% G* k: U7 aam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as2 n3 W8 {8 r6 o1 h4 u) M, t
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
0 k. j3 C& R$ B3 z1 z8 sphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
% V3 H2 n% A8 x5 K% utremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
$ D! }& x" D& A7 [! h) V; R5 |D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
9 u; X) ]3 C, G- ~" `: jis that now I will think differently about the images I make.
3 r+ ^/ h1 x0 ^4 }% {As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
5 o: p [% `2 W- u! h5 gcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal$ [& \/ M1 H/ D1 V- a5 B p1 O4 ^& e

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they" Q, e' V- w) R( f& C
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly: }+ J1 {! y7 M/ I1 l( p
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
' J g: E7 L* G7 b0 Oto work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional
) L% I- ]$ t+ a% N1 p1 k% D" ]* X1 `range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
