% x/ a6 Z, Z) k# L! ?' E c+ j9 \matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance% V5 x1 O G& x" l3 x
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800% X) n+ N5 ?: o% Y" _4 N
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
; d7 j: _8 z. y4 N; Pwithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography+ j: x0 g) A g) U5 E0 I% Z" B% o
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
$ h4 l5 m1 k' |+ C1 u# n& simage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was3 M! O6 E# X" j& I
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
/ C! N" y) p, e7 s% j1 Kconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
+ w% d# k# F4 ~0 I, P8 y! i, _before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,8 a2 x5 q8 I/ [( f
thanks to the D800.: u- F4 A' ?$ y* {7 z1 x9 l2 C
When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
- _+ `7 K) c2 f( E. M: x: t3 ]36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
# _, s& @: @& m1 S G4 K4 trange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces% X3 }8 h; |) l6 `) H. E
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a6 r8 d/ U; A1 P; |& f- x
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as5 N# |0 v4 k y
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
' M m* S* U( X' XAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor9 J) N+ ?( I1 l( v9 @ D
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
/ X$ {4 h9 c2 j4 eeasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while$ Y7 N. e; Q+ B1 J$ Z! P% J# _1 i
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
6 X& I$ F$ B( @9 e5 a3 `/ v9 g8 ] [cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features4 a" p; o7 k' W6 F" U* [/ F
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
, t- K+ M+ I; B6 z+ C7 l, kprints and video.
4 }; D+ L) G b% C. ITo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
- O4 m- b5 M b' x$ i, b; Fnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models4 b- }! F6 a8 F* b( M# D
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using0 i1 m" G k) Q A
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
0 l1 E+ O9 T" I! l" E- H- Nsight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws0 }! N3 L- y3 }8 p0 Z* F
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
2 ~7 K0 K& l+ Q: P! Nacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I' u) b" Q. [3 w7 C) k
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as$ `4 D* @, S9 M
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse- k: D( d, I" h! k( C
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add2 d S* N/ c% U) O2 k0 T& ?4 V
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the$ b. V) K9 M m) J! B( r
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,2 S' a8 g& U2 g% K' e0 w
compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal

quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for# X% h. m- R( T
architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
6 J7 W0 L& _/ o8 z6 b& T; W* dperfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly6 U0 O2 `4 t) V+ j ^2 \* ?
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
