of the new Nikon D800. Established medium-format image quality is

megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution

: O$ J! }3 S2 h: w9 ~: Min low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D8009 e' f+ E- x, l. F
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject9 u) W. s) }! R1 y/ U: D
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
( ?. c4 d* C1 J& F' J' m8 Swas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
" \0 X# U2 e9 `image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was$ P* o9 _. m6 r: h* c8 g
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
; K4 Q8 [/ d: K k2 Dconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
" d9 K' N' g3 T1 S" v; Nbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,- A( s6 d& ]) s' ^8 L* G+ L
thanks to the D800.
$ {" w* t0 ^1 SWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
/ g8 _9 u S% O% f36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic) K6 x ~- |, `$ x& V6 l3 s
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
; Y, W+ T0 J7 k# S& n* Z* |# nthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a3 E( v0 M0 F7 t" n" k
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as8 c: [- R8 D' B6 i
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.. k$ R6 G9 b+ x/ m+ @# H5 Q+ L" v
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
$ N- `. R! c( lhas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is+ g$ A6 X4 s, y7 o, Q) Z* N1 _
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while& i5 ~) `; N) A
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
! u; v4 N- ^) @6 s& H- acameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features0 _# }" U" \8 S1 F- D/ I
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality) r% {4 Z$ E8 u9 [! V* `- @! I
prints and video.
& f1 K% D- x0 |To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
( n5 ?' k1 V' F; w4 lnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
! t1 ] k* `, d' g5 P- zare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
1 `' ~2 I$ A, o- ?countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first2 a0 o+ ?$ w4 \: {8 X
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws5 _ G6 i0 N# Z# Z& [; p& w
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of( M5 R( M" c8 F2 M' A$ T
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
1 J9 r' r8 w1 w- t4 G% d3 Pam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
) e: e& h) M _& Z: ~though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse/ J) t- _# f" w( ~
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add% C) \! E3 E/ c+ r8 [( c
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the1 \8 H- j6 [6 Q+ E
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
; U3 Q( w2 m2 X$ G7 v) G, Fis that now I will think differently about the images I make.$ X! P1 }& W3 E% J
As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
5 u. H0 y i v0 m' r' k) r# Hcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal

the high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they- u/ H3 _3 ~* _4 ?2 {
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
- H" h& I, k" b( n1 |, W5 xclean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
$ c1 m" v( p4 t" Gto work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional3 p4 ?$ z6 l" H
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
