Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution
$ B/ y* g8 W4 e$ H2 Q. ^within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
) A: C6 q' p0 S) Lmatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance% X/ I) ]6 V4 h9 [
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
. E7 E3 v l9 x4 b. rallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject

was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum

! b, H% t( r: _: C& aconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
" j# V$ a7 F4 I( t2 bbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

7 I4 U ~( y- N) m4 V3 B6 t8 IWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,- U# v0 i# V& K
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
3 x& L3 Y" ~7 Erange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
L$ C. j h& m6 Vthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a

well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before./ @+ f. o" s9 J* i7 G
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor" \2 f/ C6 f& d) q8 ?0 j
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
* |6 R- A% w) n2 H5 veasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
N" o: L2 M( E( X) _also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New0 e7 H; ?$ [1 j* U; o5 f- T. U: V
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features8 X3 e$ L3 `$ k
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality4 q Y% A9 n1 ^0 Z F
prints and video., T$ U! K+ y' w8 A+ E; X
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is7 K& m' h: J/ m2 U
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
: z( g9 E: ]/ O" Ware important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
% I% f5 m9 Z t. |- ^( Scountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first# |% z9 U7 h. g% [ g8 `& c
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws. k9 \; i3 R" V( h8 i7 I6 C
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of) i5 @: q& H0 L0 n: @8 v0 l. K
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I6 ~; |, d' m3 I& J6 \
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as7 U. Z# `2 V; O9 k4 I- Q# l- I9 z
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse7 ?, O0 ~9 g' W/ J
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add; w$ h; ^& d% l: J5 K9 l
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the2 H0 G0 o* P& ?- p- o# a
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
: z+ ~. ^( H8 P _7 B/ Sis that now I will think differently about the images I make.
$ I& I* ^9 o1 |: fAs a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
x2 ]2 a4 D8 _6 B2 mcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal

and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they5 O& N1 h1 `+ m; z
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
' A' p: Z; R% w1 Bclean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility. M5 L! U$ b7 ?# d, |8 m- R
to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional
