of the new Nikon D800. Established medium-format image quality is

megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution7 X' e4 m+ b; ^& Y I! U4 ?
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
: t! {' ~, |0 ]9 Q' Z. r7 Pmatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance) e/ r8 l/ ~& `8 o- H$ X
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D8003 n0 h- u% y1 ?+ D' q9 y' j
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
0 S5 P- W# q4 [$ @9 twithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography1 C! ~/ p0 U* E, P
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
* x" V" c. ~7 A; nimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was

convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
: ~: I1 Z, X2 p9 l9 {: }- qbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location," v/ w- K* R' k
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
. ?' ~2 f8 Z+ F: P) W6 s6 q/ |) nrange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
8 C6 G1 l' z6 x* wthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
+ Y( W- A& @9 V j4 `& OD-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as

Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
: g8 _; A4 N7 \' t% lhas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
7 D" F, d8 }3 Beasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while2 I3 G" O1 c2 e" d
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New3 y6 M: E% k8 q: h8 Z' m9 b
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features4 B+ |6 c u4 j- M) k
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
. Y- O( d* H+ r x3 Zprints and video.
1 }1 d) h2 Z% n% CTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
0 q% k G* U; }8 D" R, h5 B* ^not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
b4 b' A B4 L5 @: }4 j- n5 oare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
* f, y# g+ J) N5 wcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first. }0 z9 }& E2 f( H
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
7 C$ R' G2 f8 |& Blike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of4 \$ G! E# a0 M, H/ \
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I4 q9 \, y1 M6 j6 T' W
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as

tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the( k' i/ _8 x* l$ T: H
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
