Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression/ G1 _4 y0 D6 L* a r) U* Q

now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.36 Q# v, C; h9 Z2 D
megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution
2 a" d$ ^$ c5 k: M& lwithin a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
0 p! w! n, U& e. I( H% Mmatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
: }/ g+ H/ N# A5 j8 S" k* B6 Y" ]in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800+ |2 t5 u- ~7 X2 y7 t
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject) R* M" }* V5 {7 U' `) X
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
f/ D/ d: }7 Rwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
2 `) B1 ?0 @: q) r% Vimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was

2 P% y" W; N( D+ D7 mconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
% E1 N5 F* J% A1 Hbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,- H" R- X" d; l2 |5 s' F
thanks to the D800.
* s/ g' _5 i) |When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
- x/ H6 e4 u; |36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic

. q6 e% W4 G" y4 g8 B, G3 B& \the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a

Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor0 v/ y3 c7 G' w3 R* q" f
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is# W. v2 B7 {0 z7 G
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while4 q$ y4 w/ f6 c( N, u0 M# N* v
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New& [2 D& y$ i( N' M0 |0 L
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features# I. D8 Q1 [5 E; M" g; {" [
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality" O4 v2 |: _/ M* R6 P
prints and video.8 o' \" W! x4 U5 j
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
: X( L) _2 T4 Gnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models# E) L/ F, e" N2 g& T
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using( n; _/ R6 E% S% A
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first; f! S: f7 e* k) p7 h% \; D
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
7 @& V' o% r9 I' B3 @( zlike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
+ g+ Z1 e# n, N7 X! Facuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I- ~& `' o. I. ~! r5 L/ Y& Q
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
& x3 V3 E2 @! s/ U' L0 ?6 a% m; athough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
# c/ T* @+ O- s. b, L8 d2 }2 [photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add. E. D5 Y1 I3 ^. Q: Y
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the2 J0 Q# s4 V6 d7 D1 A& R
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express8 i* S. f8 z2 x5 x! b
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.. M: t+ G, A7 _# p
As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
* n: N3 O9 K* x; S( q! Ccompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal

and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior
" v g4 M6 ?0 b9 ^- Cquality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for" x& T b+ _+ O( A! _
architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
t9 k4 P6 |; {1 F( U! _perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
1 x6 [! R$ i' {clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility6 d, n3 d- a) X i/ R
