megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution

. i3 ^8 o$ x( a* T, C; }. Jmatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance. V/ z! R& f' G3 }4 u0 C# T
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
8 F4 q: \+ Z7 [allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject( W1 w" R% ?3 S! J# C
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography

before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

m. h* O' w7 o: E5 WWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
3 j# ]6 [' V+ ?# }36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic8 n; X7 D& x" R6 ]0 r; ?/ [4 C* P
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
$ T0 r3 y' e7 b$ z! s3 wthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a. ?$ ~) j- z8 f+ S4 V; c/ x1 T# o
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as
0 p3 }$ ~2 `7 y& `' l- G1 H( X; ?" @well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
1 G& a; a& c+ B" x# }. t cAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor% o6 q( m3 o8 L
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
7 k& @, r# e' k$ @# xeasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while& b1 x. _. X/ ^/ ~2 Q
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
& p" j8 b3 l* N% L* o9 J- k: Mcameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
( ^! ?# O! [3 I B0 Cin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
c8 t7 b/ b2 B1 x% rnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models) b4 k, U! J* k( c3 Q6 A! m
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
- C0 w6 { s5 W% {2 P" K* o Q. zcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first+ C9 ~1 c2 S* M
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
0 i2 U3 W8 m0 P9 ^like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of# _9 ~, \5 C: k' N
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
$ S' C% N- r7 } Ram enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
( s# w5 Q1 [( M5 t: z3 ithough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
- q d- ^( l+ p( Z! jphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add. n& f9 a/ N, J* _
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
6 o: p# Y9 O+ i8 JD800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express' n8 m- |; P/ a8 [- j; }! n
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.

compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal5 m; d F4 C& U: _
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for
