within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color

was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum

before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

$ |! I* a i! x2 p" q/ w, w* OWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,9 q8 o7 B5 T7 L3 h' a
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic- @- s# n* h# ]& f7 u9 k0 T3 V
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces1 b6 \' h, j1 A5 U0 s$ R/ P
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a

Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
9 ^# ~* t( F9 ?3 l* F& d3 qhas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
$ s7 E% a% ]6 ~2 Eeasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
7 A) W- h& F" h5 }, [also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
8 \& g3 i- V5 ?$ P. S8 [cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features* L2 v L% e7 X/ R/ l$ F% k
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality* O9 d4 U3 p: m4 }1 v+ T9 L U
prints and video.+ \7 h! u# e' f; C- M. ]
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is8 ~) D+ ]3 A0 I2 M U( M
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models/ I0 p# L- m# @% d' j7 t+ q
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using+ p, @" Q6 \) D/ u
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first; t* X, I- b: R! _
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
$ _ T# ^+ |/ g0 e3 j" J1 Plike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of: S6 X% S M9 f' X
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I

tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
! e( X% m5 w, M; ND800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,: n3 K- e+ f$ h0 v. V
