Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution% J) A% H% s! O
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color$ |0 N) W; y/ }+ d7 S' T: S% ?
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
' ~: }5 Q: k( kin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800

without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography

) ]) a) D! `4 S4 m0 U3 }4 QWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,5 H" l. f) ^! w- M
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
; M# N2 T1 K# n7 irange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
( U% R, y! E2 F% j) h0 ~! }2 {the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a# y; V# g% S- t

well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.

easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is' P* i% Q$ @+ W- c: R2 r+ o3 b- M
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
: @: Z$ |7 o& s! Sare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
/ @$ b/ I$ S5 o' O9 _countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
- f) h% m8 B- n+ \& tsight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws. F# q3 K4 b- `- e
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
' U9 i+ k, F* tacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I n4 @) C, i% ^
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as* E+ v% X0 m6 x. _
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
