now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3
! h7 z1 C. {! `megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution, l2 L' h( `- e& G' s( N% _/ U3 {
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
' ~7 e7 Z7 ^7 g, fmatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
/ m- F% f2 f2 l; _- h/ Vin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
3 [# _+ b6 w) ?allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject' x3 {6 m: Z( U/ I2 M9 n# q
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
/ Z7 L9 A5 i; G5 X( C3 N% Zwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
% v/ q T0 Y r, D+ D4 \image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was

well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.

! i7 c& v" o5 U' T& Ehas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is/ F, _$ m# t# ?, f- V
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while1 o! j0 _' Y( G
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
7 Z+ I! E8 a1 m+ Y" z I% p5 H6 s, Ycameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features

" d# u! I/ T# J9 `4 uTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is" l# r3 y6 K) v- Z4 P( t4 g
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
' t! X, S6 V& V$ E4 d. x2 b: F Yare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
# n2 t# J0 c+ G# P5 s, l5 ecountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
9 Y! b$ [* C8 _8 N2 g' xsight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws3 N3 b; v( y# i
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of

am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as

tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the

is that now I will think differently about the images I make.
% [: D# g1 ?" tAs a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
