Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color/ R2 A T' a" s+ k
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance

allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject

" l" l% O/ F- p9 _; c& wwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum

; |% C) M; t" a8 @* ]widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and

before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
3 I0 M$ I. j2 s4 g4 x9 _% w36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic0 d2 T/ X- g( c2 u! @
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
) G* C! H! b0 b, T. ?3 Ithe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
( B E3 r- e |/ h1 UD-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as

Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor; Q& @- U0 h9 o+ f* u
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
# ?, [5 ]$ t$ L3 l( Zeasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while! w% _# q( b& j% z0 A8 V# j. Q
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New9 W3 Z5 A* I; p4 y j, a5 ?8 O* d; g
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features$ P8 e2 I3 z# d7 s1 A
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality# O5 u( u1 E7 d
prints and video.! l3 N" [% A, j# Y8 K1 U0 }
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is; w) S" j( H8 G2 V) T+ y! _
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
1 j0 T0 A9 m5 @1 h% Z A8 uare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
, B( ^9 O9 F. _+ N( A2 g% l& dcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first* L9 e7 G! ~) @7 i3 q6 [' K
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws0 M; t+ e0 a1 ~! g7 ?8 d
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of% Q4 Y( p! j8 q( q" p) h4 x2 C
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I* x. I5 c6 u6 W
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
: y' e+ Z$ j1 ^* s. t. V/ m1 {though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse2 j8 A( H1 K% T0 v+ ], i
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add/ \; V1 ^5 v6 l2 i9 }
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
( l. \8 t( G% \; jD800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
& ~3 F' ~/ Y- f) y3 _6 Vis that now I will think differently about the images I make.& T) Q/ R. Y3 ?, s2 d* V( s0 q
As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,

clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility* ?9 x3 X3 Q7 K9 A: k3 u. v
to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional
