Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

q. k% k, {- rmatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
$ X6 ^. n; U, ~* g' Xin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
" ?( h' I' _( e. z& E9 L+ t, W# Dallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject6 }% e7 f: ^# i2 S! X
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography

before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,3 p# _& a7 H, b& y
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic) K8 [* K+ `5 u+ Z. \3 b" z
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
0 P! k3 T- L+ E! u! o( athe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a

2 h2 a# T& F) S7 V6 N* qhas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
! [- s4 S: J$ p4 o. veasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while! A! n1 L, [, R% U* P
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
* b+ M8 ]. u; y+ m1 Ycameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features' x5 I ]9 A. M% k) K
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is; g. N: k# M# \# Y. {6 ~5 ^
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models6 F( {- w( w" P* R5 ?8 O
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
" Q; W- T, g3 G3 Mcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first( z( c6 b. k& F& v7 B% W
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
: b% q, _* p4 w& plike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
2 s# L) U8 O& w: c7 \4 Y! Pacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I& L8 Y" z6 {" \3 V
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as' F; |8 G- M, p% @4 M( |! g' u
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse& E& e3 u. ?4 J. }/ T
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add' U8 o( y. d' R
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
