Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color% R. V, g' i+ S
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
0 i, {/ n7 ?# `, Gin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D8009 G' f7 _0 b3 I5 G, `) h% H& S
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject8 @- z, d" n1 i d, L! ^" J& D
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography+ p9 F) g6 F4 R8 R+ y
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum1 k. j, P3 f8 n) \+ ?: x! L s
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was

convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown& ~- `2 q! I2 @ d2 e; ~( T
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
/ J( {& G+ A) h. y2 @36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic0 i7 l' G0 f7 e$ t" r6 |0 r. F
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
# J8 ?; N, E; o" o8 D: B+ X) Vthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
0 @- y5 Z/ E- \8 Y+ ~0 K# H6 [4 r, nD-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as
1 l7 p5 Y% p" N' X7 J& f$ ^( Mwell as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
! B" b, y3 H: X% mAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
0 Y7 G5 N* f/ v- T/ jhas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is8 z/ g( k7 P/ v) J
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
. V7 _3 Z( O7 ~, @8 xalso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New0 a& ]: o1 Z5 a5 `& }. b
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features- R6 N7 y+ w# e' k7 y" \* \
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
. `; w# x1 X0 l' }prints and video.
* r3 s7 d- t# n& W3 s6 ~+ m7 YTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is0 ^3 a; S: M: K& T0 r; S
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models$ z0 A! e6 |; d3 w4 E3 A5 ]
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
- F5 z3 U. z: Ccountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first/ o( g3 y. v; U- D
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws8 b9 \1 A" S9 l' e9 D9 h) J* M7 p% E
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
/ c f' n/ M+ B7 Cacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I; V) B, z5 g) T h0 j& d' J
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as; `2 q/ p6 ]6 i, {" _* E% f7 a# T
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
* a$ d! q9 }# {# Q; O$ @photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add2 h ?) P# b7 M _+ D
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
( ]- `" {6 U- Q6 `9 N! W6 M& MD800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express: W, n( _0 u8 h0 m; _+ ?2 R
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.- E# B! l: p' o; I7 {+ e- X2 u" c/ d
As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
3 i" ?$ |0 K8 |5 qcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal0 ~& a* D1 r. Q7 {) H9 L1 X: ^
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for

quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for
3 E" q0 T' u( Y4 f6 Parchitectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
0 m7 x/ l/ j1 S% }3 c: @# Gperfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
% E. [: ?: m: hclean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
7 q- p; Y* s$ f4 e( Q, D, kto work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional
9 Z9 e8 c: u, v; Y# i2 hrange of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
