within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
3 t" Y( L3 Z3 Q3 ematrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance6 {$ I. s; e$ c
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
0 w% V8 P1 E0 Z u3 Q) x0 Aallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
4 F: @7 V/ K+ H: ~6 Nwithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
- j8 g" ^ f3 b2 V8 Z6 iwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum4 k0 m+ H5 |1 W! ]6 T! V
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was
$ w) B8 }- A% V+ vwidely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and+ F' H& {& q* K" z6 V. l7 r1 q
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
3 D% X) U: R W0 G7 dbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,
& B# S3 C: \- Fthanks to the D800.
8 Y$ S# P7 m F$ B$ AWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,. `( `6 U/ p! d
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
; q+ B/ O& H, [8 W3 Vrange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces6 O7 X. g4 k) @ }2 a$ F
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
# h6 }- d) u% B1 UD-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as) g+ U* Q/ X) ~0 c; g, c; I9 R
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.# K9 U6 j+ @/ o9 t6 j' i
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor: T3 T# f3 L: J5 C" U3 O
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
$ u6 P1 Y) R. x7 z0 ~easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
' t" M" f- N4 K/ f/ K+ h" W- }also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New% A" ^" i1 z$ j. ?
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
K: ]/ G2 W* unot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models% j0 ~0 b( N( B7 V
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using( j0 m! G+ _: `& ?9 I4 K
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first1 h* y" A7 {! ~( d3 F+ G! i& @ [
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
' P. h- {- u5 B! T* b( W9 n6 [like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
) u8 P5 ?9 i; R. eacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I2 D; t4 e, {1 J* c
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
) k" `1 n0 x( l: `$ Jthough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
8 l2 d' T) X3 W' Y. [photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add3 Z: q% d6 i+ G
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
& k; M/ b4 K2 i4 h; HD800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal) ~ ~. ]0 Z+ o% Y: P3 [
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for0 h9 h' b# r: M8 m9 e7 K
the high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital2 b+ t$ D+ H. A. p1 t

now. Particularly, the live view mode enables extremely precise compositions

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they/ \/ Q3 B$ C2 \! c3 U( c

clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility' k! j; Z% C; O; g
