matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
* S# u# P% D n! o+ sin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800) g/ N! M1 d* a7 r7 e
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject

; j, R |7 E# w4 x2 X% O9 @0 ywas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum- h" t; F7 W$ x( {. j
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was2 `, k3 b3 b) S& D: `+ K" V$ b
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and/ S) `4 L2 _4 h' s
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown# e4 R! j" G( I J
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
6 f0 W9 Z; Y; ~5 \36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic& B9 D6 \+ c2 H }* F# m
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces i- S: Q1 _- ^* w
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a ]) l2 F+ ~. B- l! F, I! Q
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as
" ]5 h! a% R1 uwell as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.# U; ]6 c% ~ f' z# Z
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor

easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
. T# h9 |/ E% C) o$ o( B& ^also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New. m" t8 Q. C/ u# S
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
' S$ G. i4 }' F/ _, b! d+ jin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality& U) z# \" b1 O7 ~8 H
prints and video.
/ t [) B$ x5 X/ D2 LTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is& J- q" O/ I& S- M5 T4 f4 u: d* Y
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models! h* }. U& c- f" p8 ^
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using; Q; x; l& O: P, P0 g
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first! e# m( R3 ^" ?, n
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
" x! O5 z& n6 D: I- t) c) T" elike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
# g& f! U7 I b9 E# V) y" `9 \ uacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
1 E7 M; f; U* J5 [: K) u6 aam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
6 R: T; j% D* othough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse' l: }+ G* x: g
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add7 p' O( }( L' ~3 I! j! a9 m3 W6 S' ^
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the2 o+ S1 G, S2 `5 H, d U
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
; P! \) q+ r8 E" U4 ~! u) g# S' xcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal$ z) B. ]4 N. R# P' a" p
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for' y" |( C! K/ ]

now. Particularly, the live view mode enables extremely precise compositions# Q, `# K& x$ y- Y2 f6 Q
and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior+ r- h! B) D5 U) C; G6 M
quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for4 P0 x# x$ }- V0 @$ s
architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they$ f" C& i0 O& ^4 K, V8 B- N
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly" m7 ^/ @3 ?+ ]) F
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
