matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance

9 R N0 |! o- f9 Mallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject

widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and3 F2 Y& a. X; L, R
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown& _: M( v6 |0 x: m; x8 {6 u' ]
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
6 o5 L* s% ^' L! I- t36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic, s( E' a/ Q$ b
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces( M. x3 v N2 A8 F: I
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
5 u K1 p( W! VD-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as3 H1 g* b$ _8 w4 p; s( N3 j
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.

has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
# c% @9 e$ w! Veasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while4 b: H& M x; s$ _3 o; I6 G& w
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New& s# ~& v6 ]# v
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features

, M: I! p2 F( O) ]$ G2 kTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
9 { U) N9 l9 L8 y2 i2 K, mnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
: |; z7 a; @0 C: ?2 a; Zare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
- L# V: b; f( X: O* P ~% n; jcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first% O' x- P, p% A+ f
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
$ H, B, g0 I y1 Y/ Z* elike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
1 t, `9 J5 F" J" j- \4 G. aacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I4 s+ ?( M1 \1 ` w% P
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as

photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add( t& R( b; N2 {. a/ I0 L9 D5 K6 `
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
3 q& v3 N/ ]$ W9 \! d6 P5 dD800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express( l9 ]' T C9 R, [4 t) }
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.
+ `2 f, U6 w! C2 H) s1 F, yAs a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,

clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility" @ s9 [4 D2 j9 ~: G' ]
