within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color5 l) V9 ^; ^/ F& Y& q- ]2 L3 C
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance+ e8 J+ z* ?/ s5 T7 j7 o7 f" T+ E% Q
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800% w4 x& h& ]+ b
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
$ A2 B1 S; H. m8 W$ s: W9 L4 ~8 bwithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography

widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
5 K, c1 w& A2 a2 G& _! ^36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic. r0 o% S8 o! b# z; V% G2 [
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
1 e' b# L3 a, \ E" h, ?1 n/ Y* a* ?the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a

well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.

$ T0 j* x2 O, d3 O1 J* rhas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is+ T0 W0 x/ L% D' ^' u2 J
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while5 i/ n0 _! a+ `4 M! |- n4 h
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
, v# J, |" @7 }" K- i1 X/ N( zcameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features6 C* ]! s& s" K9 R! |3 O) O
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
" R2 ]$ Z( a# zprints and video.; A, O/ w% E; ^# @; I; ]& V" F2 b
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is, f$ V: q' Z% F9 A U1 s
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models/ N) \! U' j. \# Q& k7 M; ^6 Y3 b+ C
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
& D6 \) k& N. U6 gcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
4 r. U. z6 E6 D% n2 |1 s' csight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
4 w; E, M9 W5 flike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
( d$ I" s. V) `2 Racuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
: S" U$ M' P" ?& Yam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as8 [! T7 _ Z: a# t, {
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse

range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
