matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance: f: p$ y: N; s$ }9 w8 d
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800' G" K: t- Z* `
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject( s" f$ H" N: A$ J. R! a6 Q/ H
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography: z9 H# J8 X( w# q& ^: t" H' `
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum- F, B# C% h$ p. r' \: j8 `) i; U
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was

convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,

range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces

! z8 F5 |, u1 {easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while4 b) \9 `- l. n+ ]- o! r
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New/ {) h3 L1 h6 d7 [1 r9 u' H: I" P
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features. k( i& _4 ^! I
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is% t* |% t( r6 @4 J/ _5 E/ y9 n
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
) j' U& q3 x8 S. hare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using' h: \& E' L" j
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first: L/ G$ V) T0 z1 _' W( d+ R6 G- k' L
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
+ C0 s0 d( f+ V5 s% w' elike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of w1 b' G4 E1 R4 Q( j9 n. _8 Y; P
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
0 X- ^6 z1 x2 m/ b2 Y; Iam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as

photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add: D* Q& b2 t% J
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the# O' P+ ?8 |: z
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
