megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution- V J+ ]+ l$ ? H& q
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color0 j) \5 V# r( ]5 b9 o
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
% ]1 @5 s, |/ \! j2 {in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800! i" z% e/ f! v$ R% i
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject- @3 ^& Q" Y7 L$ q1 d+ x' c
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography. x* J1 g/ w; E+ Z- Y& Y
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
4 V+ V4 u) K5 |6 ^+ limage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was
+ X7 T/ i( e/ i- V- C: y1 Cwidely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
# i7 G% e! o% B. @" N4 n0 V R4 vconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
; P. Z$ ^; o1 ^- kbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,
' m- O5 `5 C4 G- c2 t5 ythanks to the D800.
3 b* T& j1 l4 y* g/ v% i' l GWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
* i6 `( }5 ~1 E% L4 \( R7 Q36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
. v( Y0 R8 f( D: arange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces5 K% J& q- n I# t
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a9 P9 i0 b/ K/ o- i! o- }

well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.( v5 F6 b4 J8 S( d
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
8 n/ w) o0 Y4 H1 m, O, c& o/ whas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
% ~& ?8 @8 H0 j: K- P7 {) Eeasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while; k& T& v$ H) X* A1 c
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New E1 ?4 t+ i# l [6 t, O
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features2 d: D' @% ^* K# E
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
% a' F1 j! z; G% M5 @/ `. H/ uprints and video.- B6 `/ B8 @3 U8 o
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is I5 c' H5 `8 [- v- N# V
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
; D4 e1 ~( L5 E' W! Care important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
1 P8 L; o; c9 B" acountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
' i% \) G% a# W- Tsight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws7 U3 p) l/ ~ U7 l3 J$ A
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of2 W3 e8 U A, o4 N' i
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
; n+ G1 M1 D& u! oam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
+ V) w5 g8 d, P ]6 i( Pthough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
8 N% S( v9 s% z; _9 X, J/ Uphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add' j. X- G5 P1 n
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the6 ]( N: o+ k; n" r$ v. A
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express5 S7 I9 d: B% [( T) \9 w
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.# p2 D$ J5 M% ]; `6 f6 D* H
As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
Q6 R1 e% A$ z2 P4 N1 ~. y+ Ycompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal
+ w. k' o& X+ \0 {# D& ~; Zartistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for/ D# n9 t6 t! v' P

4 m+ c: o: T$ n, jclean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
