now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3

within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color) o6 z3 e' ~& p! L( ?
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
$ j% t$ ^6 K: i |6 c; o4 Cin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
$ F! _' Y; N7 s* _6 tallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject" _% I# b r5 ~& k6 K9 ?: q
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography" _, G# }/ j& E0 \6 |" W
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum: i" f- V! W1 M4 N$ ~% p
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was3 u7 L9 H6 b* I ?& M& F0 M6 A7 V
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
, ?* T' G/ g, uconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown$ W% w1 m6 f0 m
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,

' s8 K7 b) ` P( Y/ i$ r4 ^; Q/ nrange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces

0 ^+ `5 g/ z) [; g4 Fhas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is- b" [% u& [. m8 R; F
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
- @. Z8 d1 _8 ]7 X' Kalso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
, I- j! |' E) g7 A# N* u" mcameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
6 K4 h7 z. O) Bin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is K h2 ~* P! m; N' ~! j
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models* o0 S D" g( T+ `
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
$ `( n+ V" s! \" d) _countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
% z( h$ `. c9 ]8 ]sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws; O& w: c8 S& j- h: Z2 J
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
7 r& Y2 v8 M7 h. h( iacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I/ {9 W, m" K* `8 h5 t( x4 b" L
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
' `9 F0 |5 Q" p6 z3 K0 |% n0 {though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
6 P& n, w. A0 C; aphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add( g6 R2 A! L/ J6 a; m0 X$ ^
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the6 |' C5 }( a3 r( o" a6 x; J/ G, w1 H* U
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they

range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
