Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3# @$ P4 ~- | ^2 z: E7 c
megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution f- w( E+ o# f9 n$ J
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color3 K+ r% }/ W' Q- e$ z
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance4 X$ K0 X# b! G
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D8007 a& l" m: l2 H8 D' E
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
0 d2 [# R$ h7 l" y/ k }% swithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography% g4 f W3 o5 r( Y* w: f W. }. h) Q
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum5 R* f( t4 S( v1 _' [0 e6 x
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was% K/ C8 p$ c6 \# Z4 {: m* g1 |. {
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
7 q0 n# n( H: Q. |" jconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
8 c2 m0 f. p- o+ E- x6 Nbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,' b. I; U# o: j* i
thanks to the D800.
6 b( d) I; {& s( RWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,2 `* i; C& {7 H$ e. |$ i; ?! S
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic8 X2 o% x4 [- r ]
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces/ O8 \7 q9 E4 k: c. ^$ P. d
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
! h9 u/ w4 l& x$ q6 J; X. xD-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as& b* G& T. }7 d: o# B' W' L7 v
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
0 O- f. x/ c/ N1 G! w; dAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
% ?' `- f: ?! ~! ohas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is0 b+ ~: ~* R ?& i* \0 d2 u3 ]0 g
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
/ G( q& [0 n" J/ [9 K5 Oalso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New3 f5 N$ |6 d* I1 s) r
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
6 ~4 X6 M# [5 E1 h2 y. [6 ^in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality5 \" ]! p: B& A p& m& K
prints and video.$ T8 R& f" I" `; _' E) A" n
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
- v! e; x7 z5 X5 \5 |. Bnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
6 z3 h; {- ], Jare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using: R. R4 l( U% r+ Y2 G. u' Y( d
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first z1 z1 C* R8 Y
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
% E3 m7 J [, M' m6 B; ]& Plike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
" @" D4 Q$ k2 v+ J" z; }acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
* o' W* x( S+ T9 aam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as: U( }; r1 u& i6 `" ?6 A7 G
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse# H! t- l9 }* r4 k( v' P
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
9 m& {4 k) B! htremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the: V3 p: b6 P3 E# L6 V
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
/ i N/ K; o6 U2 k" X( @9 Mis that now I will think differently about the images I make.1 G0 l8 M3 I' w. T2 v7 K: j
As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,% m0 M9 [7 z/ N! c+ {
compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal
! U6 l! R, F. N/ d# iartistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for

and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior

6 _2 L! A8 s4 ? carchitectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they! N8 g( \4 T+ }1 o. ^! l/ A: J" D
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly/ U8 p5 r3 A" Z( I1 u
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
, o# X) ^, e8 y8 E6 w9 u( Rto work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional. s0 u! ]+ H6 u9 n- O' e
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
