/ I8 T Q- M- F: O# ` }Cyclists aged 17 and younger are required by law to wear an approved bicycle helmet, including children in trailers and on trail-a-bikes. Adults are also encouraged to wear a helmet to avoid injury while cycling.

Helmets must meet ANSI, Snell or CSA standards to provide enough protection. A properly fitting helmet should sit level from front to back about 3cm (1 inch) above your eyebrows. It should fit snugly with the straps adjusted so the 'V' is just below you ears and you can fit one finger between your chin and the strap.

Bicycles are allowed on all of Edmonton's roads, although cyclists are encouraged to use shared use pathways, bike lanes and bike routes as safer alternatives to major arteries with high speeds and traffic volumes. Always obey signed road closures.

7 x: T4 h/ {4 k& K( S8 L# ]Standard size bicycles are only allowed on signed, shared use sidewalks that are 2.5m wide or greater. Bicycles with wheels less than 50cm in diameter (children's bikes) are permitted on all sidewalks.

Cycling is permitted on all shared use pathways and unimproved trails 0.5m or wider. People are not allowed to use paths and tracks less than 0.5m wide to protect the natural area. Always obey signed trail and park closures.

Parks
9 E0 J& }8 U! j" PPolice and Park Rangers require all people, including cyclists, to leave City parks by closing time.
