Nait废水处理专业就业如何？

想去学，Nait网站上给的是88%的就业率，有没有前辈给说说具体就业情况，谢谢了

挺好的啊。很多招人公司直接写了要nait证书的，政府有时候也有同样的要求。不过环境工程市场需求比别的专业少。

It is not only about wastewater treatment but also water treatment, water distribution and wastewater collection. I graduated from NAIT last year and working for EPCOR now. As I know it is relatively easy to find out a job and mostly the job is pretty stable, The average pay is about 25/h for entry level graduates. Big employers, like EPCOR, city of Calgary pay 26+/h for summer students this year. Disadvantages: nigh shift, some physical work probably involved.

Graduates will be operators which are called technicians but some consider them as trade guys. There is no chance to be an engineer. Also the program is nothing related to environmental engineering.

特别谢谢这位前辈的详细回复，我还有个问题这个专业不是有4个级别，都考下来还是算trade么？听说工资能到$80000一年，是不是真的？
还有这个专业有part-time and full-time，具体到就业的时候，区别大么？

都考下来也算是trade，要一步一步的考，考过二级以后，必须有一年以上的DRC（direct responsible charge），才能考下一级考到最高级别也是operator。有机会当一个班长。工资到8万，这个可以有，因为holiday 工作都是打包的。
这里也泼点冷水，我认识一个这个专业毕业的到现在还没有找到专业工作。是金子总是放光的，楼主好运！

Yes you are right. There are four levels. Even you were level 4, you still are an operator, trade or technician, I can't see any difference. As for job opportunities, it depends on a lot of factors. Gender shouldn't be an issue for big employers because their facilities are pretty automatic, but small towns really care about gender since a lot of physical work for these positions. One of my classmates who is a Chinese lady beat other Canadian gentlemen and got a job from City of Calgary last year and she really enjoys it. 8w/year is possible after working several years when you get level 2 or higher. You could get double or triple pay for overtime or stat holiday respectively due to shift work. If you want, I recommend you to take the full time program. I have never heard of part time program but there is a online one which is suitable for guys who already are working in this field but just need some CEUs. For us, we cannot find out other way to get in the industry without taking the course. Sorry I couldn't type in Chinese in my working place.

Nait网站上说的不都是真的，毕业时就业市场情况要看运气。废水处理这个行当，基本上一个萝卜一个坑，前面的人退了，新人才能进。不是特别好，也不是特别遭，别只看到最好的理想情况就下定决心。也有可能在偏远小镇才有工作机会，然后熬些时间积累经验，再换回到大城市。开始工资没你想象的那么高，偶然出现的好OFFER不具有普遍意义。性别差异当然是有的，尤其是 operator，但没那么严重，有的工厂味道会有，先问自己真不介意吗？

I don't believe every word on NAIT website but I still think 88% employment rate is a proper number. Nobody guarantees you a job after schooling. i totally agree that a lot of job opportunities are in small towns or communities, but I just found a few Chinese guys working there because it is harder to find a job in small towns than big cities for us since language, culture even race could be a barrier.

It is always " ren zhe jian ren, zhi zhe jian zhe. you have to make a decision by yourself. In my opinion, if you are not a teenager, some factors you have to concern: A-C-E
1. High demand in job markets, good pay and secure (affordable);
2. You CAN handle it physically and mentally (capable);
3. You don't hate the job at least ( enjoyable ).
