Responsibilities and Tasks W/ E8 E( r) s; B* s
h" Z9 Y$ s1 r; Y& y& \& {
- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
' V* }5 G' t+ j) X: T* d- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements7 ?+ f( W" N/ o# v1 i
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
; `. n/ x( @3 x. H- k- Select type and size of pipe required5 Q' r: f: E2 T
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
+ ~9 E5 ?! u8 a; L* s4 a$ {- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
/ m+ j Y3 t6 K8 ^- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
' ^) I; m6 I# e9 w, `- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
9 T* K2 w/ v5 k- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
7 X+ a! y' T, b9 H3 _+ p( V- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
) F* U5 |* c n1 T- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program

Required Qualifications
! E A, n f: O0 [0 ~& D8 a( a6 ^3 k1 `( Z
- Completion of secondary school
- r; E0 R; Y3 X- a2 R1 O- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation + u8 ]8 D# E0 o$ j3 a; O
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals# s% h( h% b/ T7 ]& Z
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence* {6 L' Q- s5 Z @9 f! }( n/ O7 w5 M
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset8 y# W# w7 u' @; q
- Safety tickets are considered an asset
% Q! @7 A; m/ U! D8 ?9 @- Valid drivers’ license is an asset4 w; I) {- b. h
- Interprovincial Red Seal is an asset
