5 _0 s% m' `9 C, Y: C9 l$ W2 n& E: J: x0 C7 Q
        1. I couldn't care less.
( _) L2 o; [( ~1 {( N2 B  x7 F5 O7 c' Z( m! n4 Q
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: 3 |- V- O# b4 u7 j$ U  m
8 G, G! f  u3 R, K  V* i/ q0 D$ [
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)   f( S: k# X% _& l9 T
# T: |4 h- A' M2 ?
' W" p) E6 Y+ i& t
6 j# x! v, P5 s  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) " u5 e* f8 Y+ _% I7 C! d
- O. v1 Z8 Y) |  y
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) - l1 A& C, t2 h9 L  k* R( i

6 G& U2 K+ F# M!
2 o' W7 `9 o, ], m* ?. C: b" U. H" T& `0 g1 Q
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
% f3 h& t4 m0 j* _& [. T
Yes, you do(care). . t, U# [' C+ \: e: T
" }! j1 B* J8 _( f
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理: # X) ]9 @. ?! l) i
/ U" O/ G: R9 {: g! @, S
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
: `9 y- [+ x2 l9 r- r- s0 Y1 T4 Y6 W8 |( |
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
6 I/ \, {7 M3 Z# S* ~0 G) A% Z3 F& @- \- O% W5 J: M" S4 J
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. 1 V, k" l0 ~% F' n

1 v" h5 s3 y5 t1 z9 V8 V  但是老外为了自尊,不愿强调自己的错误,所以很少人说: : y( e+ V5 l3 ~2 h! {
: D* N1 [# n: D. j( l
  I couldn't be more wrong.
# T" b8 e: G& u- |' X, I5 i$ B( [1 J: @# W( Y
% y, s+ f% ?" a/ H8 z6 x8 @( l7 [% o
  不过,严格来说,I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) 9 Q" O- H! Z; Z+ l& {

, w3 y! V, A) @# g/ A% W+ F9 a6 G$ E  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。) + M' F: p! o5 ^) U% t
0 Y% y& s3 q3 R9 k
  2. No bones about it. , C: k6 x& t0 o0 t

. I" R- U/ I9 @4 p8 G  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
: W+ Q3 p" j7 O" O! s5 ^6 w
! [/ p' X% z7 I* S) ]: y8 E+ K$ k  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
2 v( ~/ S( |: R4 e! v8 {; _+ h  T  `
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
$ b* P& O$ `/ l- v3 A* H2 l  n" o* x2 r
  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法)
( N2 ~4 d& K- _
. L; M- V8 X  E  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了)
3 v0 a: {) ?3 F3 d1 A7 m) O
) @  H, U$ {( u6 {- u  z  3. take it on me!
1 p( b; K' j3 [' |9 G2 b. [8 H
  g  O4 u5 v$ H2 ~' L+ U2 @/ l  }6 Z  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:   y, p: ~. F5 n2 d  T

6 I0 W. i" S0 O0 V  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (这是来自英国的糖果,尝一个吧!) (one = candy) 9 J+ t' h! v/ J2 O7 c
- B7 e' A- Z3 n) |
  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me."
1 F1 Q; u/ q% ~& \+ y6 S% \7 V3 [1 }' l% ?: }: Z* p. C' i" G
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
6 q7 f% ^8 k* K, j
5 R7 G: T  ^- B; X' i  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) 1 A9 N. ]$ H) ~( }
5 G: ~8 w* u$ @' ]' {7 w9 b8 T
  4. I am from Missouri. 7 t0 b+ d& w' `1 I" _/ g5 B7 g
( u$ G& N* x" I
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
4 l1 X5 j: Y8 p, {+ c: g8 z# i  r- t- s' W  \
0 i# U5 f" U) u# `# ]5 r; w& c1 }
/ A: b2 v1 _$ U  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. q0 p; k$ a- w
" I& |' s& }$ @9 D5 Q( A; `
  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.)
3 S7 k- S2 B& F) f# k0 s% |7 u' ?+ w; j; X* q
  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
2 w) X2 f& g) d' F# m/ F; ?
6 U$ e  x6 v- Q( V" }# d  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith先生是位倔强的人,他一定是来自密苏里州。)
