# q$ Y7 F/ c! w* D! q
$ m! S1 y' `. U- f; q
        1. I couldn't care less.
) c3 d, b* T. e$ v  @  D, J0 E( V# A8 P8 s; i0 B
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: ' O# G7 o( a$ W7 H. G( d5 B! w
9 l$ M) p" L3 C8 ^: k
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
5 e2 _2 ^8 B. {( A  t3 L
: v8 S* A; ^9 i2 l& V  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎)
$ J) V9 n8 o, }, v- n. f2 h3 L4 D  z/ u- O4 T
  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) : m, V5 n) `! W0 b  ~+ M" W
7 `) `. P% `8 J6 e5 h0 `' j. M% h
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) 3 ], @) R: d, s+ V
# X& E5 E. w% j  r5 W" Z
% w# l% r8 V7 ^+ }+ a
6 g7 ]  E3 ]/ l5 C, \+ ^# E3 f. C  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
$ D) S6 ?+ a  c0 K# }6 q) Z7 T7 Z( _! t
Yes, you do(care).
2 `) o: X! M# Q; |4 W2 K$ l3 A) L. ^
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
* j- q/ h0 \8 t) ~+ Z: U2 A; F! O+ g7 Y: {; O6 S8 V
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
/ L' o1 Z! B% s: V: ]# z$ r
9 A! B( i; D, E( ~. W2 |. e  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
5 G$ N4 w5 \9 v; @+ w" r: S/ M, o$ @. t: L# S+ f  H
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right.
) n  X( ?% m1 Y2 {/ W3 l( H7 f$ j- e4 K' {% I  j( L
9 x" d2 b2 S& ?% q3 l, Z
+ x, Q' h/ O4 d) J  Y  I couldn't be more wrong. , l% X3 _! O& C% n" a( x
* h* e& Y8 K6 N% R7 ^
* }/ I( Z. J  u% _# `6 J; d$ `$ i3 J
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
0 B) \6 @6 P) v0 C- j- F" U: }8 O2 f$ h- E# ~
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。) * p8 h4 K$ V4 H/ a

( h/ {% S; U; Z$ N) R6 W  ?* [0 b  2. No bones about it.
. W0 V! |& l5 o6 B' O* \
1 _' ?8 }3 q8 d9 E0 n% ]/ A  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如: $ B- j6 f1 }% |" S/ D4 Q
) T- t6 k3 c" U6 g
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) - r8 r% o) Q8 L, d+ g

# B7 @1 o$ B* w: x# d4 M4 z  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
, _! t9 k  ~" l- Y1 Q9 v# F0 w0 N5 I9 i% g
  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法)   A9 r9 o" t& @: J9 r; g  I
* i$ D; f8 E, `4 Y4 H6 W
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) 7 b" r0 _# a% p: A) t
1 h0 v; i' y/ X9 K# w$ n4 Z  D
  3. take it on me! ( k7 [( j0 }' T: G" L1 `4 C

; f4 x/ Q- l& a6 t5 Q4 {  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: $ r+ \$ a$ F2 r" r

% ]3 e4 J; V- k6 `  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) " W) s: X9 d/ v/ t0 i/ p
" F/ F6 f" d/ T
  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me."
! U: L6 x- w+ \# }# G6 a+ o9 M$ j8 @, k; h% ^  D6 T4 W2 D
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
, h5 v: K- c/ R2 c8 L1 J
2 O3 o4 g0 t+ N/ i% t! H  G  可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。
4 e" f, F5 H! T5 z# Y1 w% E$ @8 L& h6 s" F' j
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) 1 f- o) A: ?( v" S

$ Y* A' ~: a/ u6 Z  4. I am from Missouri. ) B: m' N8 U2 ^- p; d; e& W7 ~
" S! E5 `! Y3 I+ h" Y% C4 ?8 }
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 " D. `; I8 l1 {- F6 L
/ J) v# ^! T( t# G. ^
' u& a% `, R& l/ k
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri.
6 J7 Y; [& K5 U, T
6 @" V6 G  B& n; \0 L  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) (别愚弄我,我是来自密苏里州。) 4 T7 v3 [3 {# `; i! a

6 E9 C  \3 h; Q1 P" `2 Q) I  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
3 k5 n4 i9 p( L' L/ {" b, X8 {: M- S5 t
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
