先谈一下最近看到的一篇西方学术文章Prescholl lessons: New research shows that teaching kids more and more, at ever-younger ages, may backfire (http://www.slate.com/articles/do ... be_like_school.html). 我认为与我们讨论的中文教学紧密联系. 文章的主要观点如下:& h1 g& Q0 {# q, a
1. Perhaps direct instruction can help children learn specific facts and skills , but what about curiosity and creativity-abilities that are even more important for learning in the long run…While learning from a teacher may help children get to a specific answer more quickly, it also makes them less likely to discover new information about a problem and to create a new and unexpected solution.
' r( o; x. A5 \& c" x ~5 V2 G0 a2. Directed teaching will make children do better on standardized tests, which the government uses to evaluate school performance. Curiosity and creativity are harder to measure.. j" W P C6 f( f# N& t
3. Adults assume that most learning is the result of teaching and that exploratory, spontaneous learning is unusual. But actually, spontaneous learning is more fundamental. It’s this kind of learning, in fact, that allows kids to learn from teachers in the first place.7 `- @. u3 w& I4 h v' n& |( |* c
6 h8 n" z, g6 y3 t; E9 @9 o我们比较中西教学的异同,会发现孩子明显喜欢英文教学的方式,因为孩子的天性喜欢玩.西方的教学强调learning through play(是有目的的玩).老师在教学中用了大量的方式(唱歌,讲故事,种树苗,手工,做邮箱,拾树叶,写纸条,field trip, 大小班孩子做伙伴,戏剧表演,做书籍, 写日记,寄卡片homeless people, 网上收集资料)来激发孩子的学习的乐趣. 无论是用theme 还是project leaning, 孩子好奇心,创造力,学习的态度,在一生中得到良好的发展. 孩子得到了阅读的兴趣,写作的兴趣,才可能将中文学习进行到底. 想了解project learning , inquiry learning, 中文可以查看http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_687638730100n02x.html.
