not do any of the following:6 g% q! k, m) M7 b$ W
(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
$ D( R; g4 K5 u' B/ ~( h8 X5 k# rvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
! K+ y# S/ a# R; Z" A(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor1 F7 j6 i, l P G T
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
- o2 b, T* p! X8 a8 G" X(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,
+ q& q! S+ w+ |$ upermit another person$ \2 F1 _: J9 v r8 j3 s. D" h
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
# `2 S' O! K2 N+ e3 V(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,, u3 ~( u) g3 n) v6 H6 p
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;+ I" B7 P0 p2 Q; N
(d) give or lend a financial" p5 q+ I e6 z' Z9 h' A+ S
responsibility card or a copy of it
8 U: \+ i( t. \% M( K7 Eto a person not entitled to have that financial
7 ?9 L5 Z9 D$ p* W$ D/ wresponsibility card or copy.& p! h4 Q3 z: `6 S/ g, T

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway2 r- K! W3 g7 r1 h& n; }) K
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
5 R- g" J) U. E- l1 Cthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection: L- W- e' E3 D" I
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
- N) h8 F/ f9 @& i d- W! _not an insured motor vehicle.

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this/ o, y1 g8 D/ u8 P4 X: A
Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
( s' F9 U$ l9 b& [! Q7 b. p Afinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the
0 \) z, p1 `, e* h" fInsurance Act
, N) e* |9 |, n8 [ \9 G; q* Bby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
& p$ I0 ^) z f5 m) Xoutside Alberta.9 U2 S* y+ i* y! r% D
(4)% |: F9 a4 [5 u0 h
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
( @6 Y% J+ U" d1 a0 ^% M3 F5 c(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,& i$ J( M4 T- } b2 C$ s) F7 q
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $25005 w# ^ I* Q7 F( E
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
. u( e" Q* p6 ~5 Limprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not% [: q/ _# F1 h7 H9 O' c
more than 6 months
+ K2 F% \ t( T$ v' S! T5 s$ z% o, {* r4 @8 r3 ]
Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
