$ ]/ _5 B; ?' e3 sExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall
& K7 ~8 Q/ v/ T! Rnot do any of the following:
: t) m' ~, c3 s E" s5 p5 y- y+ a(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
& l1 p8 p; X y' avehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
! {4 [, a4 b% ^ Q, X) x# U(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
' d# U- |4 k+ x0 K( E, t7 R. Evehicle is an insured motor vehicle;9 o" O3 O4 A6 r, k+ U! i
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,
b5 K* I% a$ P5 h9 Q5 npermit another person: d+ g! m+ l5 @$ n; Q+ S
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
9 M9 J! I" J& a(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,) |2 a4 P$ `+ t
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;. A! H) Y' ^8 P' P! q' K* M
(d) give or lend a financial
7 M8 H* J9 H" S" Dresponsibility card or a copy of it
9 K8 p; M) P7 F* A* g: a5 Wto a person not entitled to have that financial* v, X0 \. ?+ o+ a/ c W

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway" f+ |5 p" a( f4 V4 e5 ]* |# `" Z6 V
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
3 w8 s3 p# k3 \$ S: ?- W, W. bthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection6 [9 g0 ^% _. h2 J
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this

- K4 R. d, {7 S& h7 [& X& SSubsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
d4 j7 G# i9 m# |+ w% efinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the& i, [$ s% t/ T& {. G& _
Insurance Act
) O& w C: m" ]8 sby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy: O, f) L$ H. T! X# n; ^
outside Alberta.

" Y2 |% V; ]0 L2 M' G/ V A, VA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
. S8 O6 [9 y6 o4 m' i- y(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,: q: {: W8 r2 @. S
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
) \, v2 E! _% U2 R9 B' gand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
% q9 X5 B1 w; h$ Mimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
