(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor

(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
+ }: m5 g# D0 @( ^* `vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;. |; L' c* s& A
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle," m' ?8 W' Z& `: ~, b8 s, a
permit another person* ^. Y; B" Q1 ~3 M' `
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or4 S7 P+ c7 U% L- c# B6 x8 Z
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,7 J: `1 y$ _( w
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
% x$ ?( X6 l5 n/ _7 n(d) give or lend a financial. `& o. a S2 z( ?% h
responsibility card or a copy of it
5 \' U2 a( B8 P1 F- \to a person not entitled to have that financial
; s. ^* L; L- |) R$ x7 v' C/ i9 f8 ^responsibility card or copy.

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
4 J& T8 C; |3 ?7 X3 e3 t! T$ {without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
+ r# f0 s1 n/ b. Dthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection+ S* }8 g, \1 Y- t
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is. @1 T% t/ g0 f& X/ B
not an insured motor vehicle.
* n3 J) D" o* @) M0 U% f+ P! A(2)8 }: C3 @! n( Q) F( w
If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this
0 ~! }. ]' _7 S4 K4 AAct, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this d4 }7 K- R3 y7 T, Q
section.

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a5 C' [! p8 K- ] c
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the
! Y* K# q1 b* z0 S0 _5 s( [2 G, jInsurance Act9 C9 T9 ?3 E! X9 l8 i
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy9 A2 O9 n4 ^/ Z7 P/ h
outside Alberta., |# z9 l0 f g% _7 h
(4)2 b1 s, S, u2 r! j. N# W0 j& _
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection/ I2 a' B2 K2 t m' M, ~& O
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable," v/ u5 v& h3 @5 P
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500$ K/ e/ k6 M. w; c7 A4 k$ ]
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to* t+ N* o3 B. O& o% H
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
8 \ q; a% ?" amore than 6 months
6 f4 p8 R, K" D2 Y4 y8 vMinimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
