3 o0 F4 c' u4 ^8 U) m7 @/ QExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall, U9 P9 U" W3 x$ r1 d$ C+ y
not do any of the following:
6 @. k4 w% D+ W. ~(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
4 c! I6 \; q# z, K% v/ n& M9 K. I" Evehicle is an insured motor vehicle;' e1 v$ p; M! J7 z. R
(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor. f+ p, b2 [- } y6 B, j8 j. l+ B R9 U
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;& N4 j& X, n- j! E8 w, U, ^
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,
) t& X! x% V% J! Ipermit another person/ g/ H/ b$ x0 y1 W. g- B
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or% j# t. ]& Z$ }2 c0 J! a
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,4 S& w9 T6 b0 m
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
% _( @. i( {8 a7 e+ x7 F(d) give or lend a financial. D/ t+ y% B4 Q4 s; ?) _) r
responsibility card or a copy of it
% y7 E5 E) F& e+ i( \ vto a person not entitled to have that financial7 A9 u" M7 A8 ]/ z" L+ n* m
responsibility card or copy.

/ U; I3 H/ s( h7 H) a4 } M. \If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway* S8 m+ q0 M# a
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
, N9 J7 R& L* Q& y! K: w& W8 r# Ithe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
' W3 V4 h# y+ M8 E1 b8 ~(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is% a* s/ j( K+ w5 Z9 S+ Z# F9 `
not an insured motor vehicle.% N' ~3 J; t( b5 Y" x

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this( v5 |& j& n, `; f1 s
Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this
6 ]% \+ o) A2 V9 o2 t* ? Psection.

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
, N9 R+ y" [0 v, n3 _% Z5 Tfinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the

) g. q! S" q+ E0 dby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
* G6 H0 l+ Y: v6 b5 b' K6 goutside Alberta.
9 K) J# X8 [+ V' Z(4)# Y* j8 S+ {, X9 b/ E
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection5 v: M4 D% j3 |+ \7 c% S
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,! H$ h1 z- S& G( p9 s: ]% N
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500! c: M$ B c& v5 J" _0 Q
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to1 ^" L% Y/ }: Q4 I# p; ^8 U
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not6 B" p- r/ K6 p9 Y0 W* L- \, w7 `
more than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
