not do any of the following:
) d J7 W* v: K$ j- [(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor/ q: K' W: ]5 H/ l0 J) k
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;

(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,
% H, i* a. ^) [2 V' D2 ~) S% y# Mpermit another person. j3 F+ @# q) g( `' [- L
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
2 Y/ E0 b/ P+ P0 V; r" c(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
- E# l! z* W2 I3 Q# }/ Gunless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;! a p8 _ @7 Q2 C
(d) give or lend a financial
) c* r, P6 O0 hresponsibility card or a copy of it9 U+ r% j0 E5 @ y7 V2 T
to a person not entitled to have that financial
: Z2 m' _7 \+ {5 fresponsibility card or copy.

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway9 n! s" c: x5 P$ w, V& j+ j6 A! _
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of! v% U. \# [. @
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
+ L# [7 {& V6 k$ |(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is# K7 l6 T" m6 J' B" c; X p
not an insured motor vehicle.7 q* t5 v4 P6 c/ ]4 Q8 p9 p

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a W; j' `9 U) l- b7 E
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the0 j& H5 d! w# T, a# C+ x- [4 t, X
Insurance Act' Q+ D8 @5 T6 |% }, N/ H( T
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy& \% j' g# ^: d
outside Alberta. h# L( j3 j: }) x8 l& V

* w( @' T+ s$ G: Z9 s4 AA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection5 @3 A$ ?0 P1 `5 x4 w7 j7 ~7 I9 h
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
4 s; j3 W5 B5 C# ?+ q/ [$ V8 g(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
/ o- U0 M( N9 b! t' h# vand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to1 J4 T: U: j5 R1 K* A
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
9 Q4 s ^# h/ w# V% h8 smore than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
