Except as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall$ g8 i' h3 U) k4 K6 t2 u
not do any of the following:
: B7 w1 P0 F2 T2 q(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor( d3 o- c9 [4 N* n) u
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;; W4 |/ W; T" x4 J3 f- [
(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor7 v T4 _# \* t
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;' P+ g2 P0 a' P! }4 B
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,

' i* x( @4 S: s' U(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
) o0 J( I5 J* \+ N, `4 Y# K(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,

(d) give or lend a financial4 |* M1 |9 |4 K. ?

without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of

(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this% C9 b$ h/ l7 g _

; b9 G( O: r2 b6 h1 S- @Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a

7 E: d% j5 B$ H7 _2 o6 `* p$ Wby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy8 [4 I H* c+ q) F4 h8 i$ j5 a8 D
outside Alberta.

A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection" @( @0 h) j; C, [0 u* P! r( N
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,& |) {6 U- b# r% G3 f9 c! P6 N
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500$ y5 Q; s- R! Y
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
% R8 T& F- p, x7 Y ]! Yimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not: }* j% J/ o1 h0 z1 }) |
more than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
