Insurance required

not do any of the following:
; D- N: i: }& K8 D7 |(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor

(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor6 c0 c5 X( `1 G# H" C
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;

permit another person+ N+ i. U7 P9 T q, H
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or

unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;* W8 d6 E8 M0 W" q# C
(d) give or lend a financial+ t8 }! g7 p6 R
responsibility card or a copy of it3 d" l7 b( h, m. v
to a person not entitled to have that financial, c) e }7 ?% H/ Z, H3 j: ^

without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
; P( y( J6 ~0 w/ Y9 v" P6 t2 zthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection3 f7 |1 x1 C6 E4 m; t
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is3 i7 g5 }' {5 y. E/ A5 Z

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this

financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the2 w) C9 y- j! Y4 \
Insurance Act
( r, T2 f7 t! x8 yby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
# a# {! Y$ O# w8 m) aoutside Alberta.
* i3 r: }, y$ ?4 J A% n n) @( S(4)" `3 f1 ]8 S2 B8 r# i2 |) Q
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
- H" \" y0 [# o4 b n6 G(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,2 }$ o9 Q& i& {7 [
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
1 q+ y3 n2 ?: a$ Oand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to% n% w, o( W( A0 g! |/ P
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not9 [8 E! B; o! B
more than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
