Except as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall5 j) b* G' V* I" j5 H
not do any of the following:
" H- Q0 x3 ^; s/ W(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor2 U C1 ]. q& U9 y
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;; a2 h9 n" L* m6 s: u
(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
' k1 I/ i" L2 l$ R0 s% Zvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;( \' O3 r; ~% A. j& \! X
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,
. M; l7 _) I( T. F8 Ppermit another person) T/ ?+ _- d0 y8 w8 A% Z4 s
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or) s; o% }! Z! j f) o# z9 s
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,) W' g6 m8 s, z0 K3 D
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;* Z% ^* N8 B3 r' n4 W; f+ ^! M9 E
(d) give or lend a financial

' M {; ?& ~3 ?3 R$ }# oto a person not entitled to have that financial( N: a# |6 P( o2 h
responsibility card or copy.

; L" b0 } E3 a3 FIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway( w/ G) A3 i3 m0 [: i) ?' i9 S
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of6 n# I4 q" }7 C
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
5 d1 h ]: |$ Z( b j2 k2 Y(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
9 J) {1 ^* h% c1 x7 z: jnot an insured motor vehicle.5 w6 o# t. Y2 W* {& }

Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
. A5 Z) P2 K- \' n- h( ]& gfinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the' y8 z( H4 r. n! H1 `
Insurance Act B+ i+ y8 j6 @. a3 G P: x
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
4 l* f7 a( {( E& \' S% f1 Goutside Alberta.' l% a# R6 {" o& Z, {, d; X
(4)$ N7 q; n: l! Y1 y; f$ x* F
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
0 }$ J1 C. \3 [, |* _9 R. O( k(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
; }; [2 T% a7 a/ x+ E) D(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $25007 ] }, z. ]" W
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
4 G/ M) f+ v7 T" N' Timprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
1 O! I8 a. g! r2 bmore than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
