(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor

(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor" `) |/ X6 n4 `
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;

permit another person: O3 T7 b* U& `
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
4 v8 @7 |/ R: e! F( ?% c1 ~0 C(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,$ Y a4 o o* A8 Q9 ]
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;# f! t9 b' h) k
(d) give or lend a financial

to a person not entitled to have that financial7 g+ @; T" v8 c" g* x
responsibility card or copy.. U1 r7 Q9 ~" n; b- c4 ]! G* P

5 V# v7 n; C& O4 }If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
) E7 _7 F- i/ Hwithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
2 u, g( F/ ^# E7 C1 e6 B* I! k8 F# r$ T* vthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection6 ~1 @& l7 {2 T5 |
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is. Q8 Z! }6 f% |9 O' q2 Z
not an insured motor vehicle.

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this _3 O- L) r( H& k* d( e( H
Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a- _3 e7 ?. A% w2 A8 v
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the! \* ^# g- B% }, u' x: f
Insurance Act& J% Y: g2 j6 @* K) R/ D$ {/ b
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy6 D" ?- F! }+ I# d. F F+ Z o
outside Alberta.
! H2 m) X+ w) ]7 g# U0 Q* Z/ N(4)& F0 F4 S9 t) ]" t8 m0 ]- G
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection) ^- ]+ o ~3 {9 P g
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
$ n6 o0 ?$ Y; u$ \" e(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
) g) R7 A+ P3 u' Wand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
1 Z2 b# f3 L; B6 Mimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not7 W% a/ |- H) l7 {; j8 M
more than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
