3 i- b+ u* C, \$ f+ dExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall

8 x( O% i$ v* J0 O9 `(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor! @9 s3 v2 X( o
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
! O# O0 t- b+ x+ p- C& C(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor9 F. G% r2 i) f3 g* n
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
& n v- \% j) N* s% b! a" q- w(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle, }$ I; A* F% ?6 d$ s$ S8 L
permit another person) e+ W7 N' V. _
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
0 T* T8 Y) \4 ]% S. `# ~# @(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,, ?- g e" l; H# ~
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;5 t: Z9 H: d- Q9 `( @& P) S3 y$ m
(d) give or lend a financial- N; U. r7 O* `5 _; ?. ?) H9 h
responsibility card or a copy of it
7 x% J! b5 X, eto a person not entitled to have that financial" L( K0 |* ~6 w, F8 S$ |6 s
responsibility card or copy.6 n+ l0 e$ z. Q9 ~" s' f, A0 j

- l- I7 O. V4 n9 r% XIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway) f8 I2 G( s" ^. C1 i% [
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
# {6 I* q+ v' \* h! B: l' l" c. d. J6 Qthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
8 ~) K; q5 \4 I! _(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
& a* o$ y! i7 C' n6 T/ F3 U; Wnot an insured motor vehicle.

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this( r7 y3 g( D, a/ {
Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
$ a7 j ]' j, w, ^- d! |& mfinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the
, g0 j W% O. @' m% }Insurance Act
& @) [' N0 w# R1 Hby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy5 A H9 Z$ n: e* E. O
outside Alberta.8 A6 D4 {0 o1 b6 @3 f8 q# O8 k
(4)# h( m# x; T9 X: d
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection- [8 o* ^+ H- t- C
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,! m1 b5 g" Y9 J: u, |
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $25000 p5 K; e5 `" S
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to9 L4 p2 u! L, @" K3 P' Q$ a$ A
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not. H4 X( j' h" |$ I8 V
more than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
