; g: _2 v* d5 D. [* F- y8 eEDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.

The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

8 d' m- Y" g# @% u8 E! ]( WPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.: f& d# J& n: h+ R2 K

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
