EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.$ J! `2 r6 F7 p: j4 ?
* E, Q4 i0 ^0 Z* m/ u% dThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

4 S4 a% b+ W2 b% VPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
