/ {. ?+ J4 m+ U) aEDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.% k5 r! R+ Q l# {4 d3 l' W
1 r+ y4 _$ o; d- K: CThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.% w* o' S" C5 {

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

$ u% ]2 Z: ~# x4 S2 {"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
