. U7 C' I E) P b" mSometime ago I did research (or search) on engine oils. Mobil 1 EP 0W20/5W20/5W30 are generally PAO (PolyAlphaOlefin) based (also called Group IV), similar to some Royal Purple, AMSOil and some other brands. Virtually every major oil manufacturer makes PAO-based oils. Red Line makes Group V oils. These oils are claimed to perform better than Group III oils, but, in my opinion, only the professionals can tell the real difference. If you were an ordinary driver who never races the engine on racing tracks, you probably would not detect the difference of Group II, III, IV and V oils. The key, in my view, is to change oils as frequently as possible. I always use Group IV or V oils on my vehicles, not because I desperately like them, but because I often buy them at discount prices. |
