1)过去听说涡轮发动机费油而且温度高散热慢,维修费用高,对吗?Generally yes. Today's turbos have been remarkably improved. The traditional issues with over-heating and frequent repair have been greatly alleviated. However, generally speaking, compared to NA engines, turbos still need more attention which leads to (slightly) higher repair and operating cost.: N6 a3 [, W3 F' I$ ]# k, i
, q7 ~# ] s; M t" q1 n2)现在看到很多新车都采用涡轮发动机,是因为它功率大?效率高?比过去的机器改进多了?The regained popularity of turbo is driven primarily by the ever increasingly stringent emission standards and consumer demand. Consumers, more than ever, demand for more power and faster acceleration. The government, however, requires less and less emission which naturally translates into smaller displacement in engines (some countries impose taxes based on the engine displacement). Turbo-engined vehicles meet both goals reasonably well.

6 z% h+ r" Z; S- e: q! T+ |Is turbo engines the panacea? I doubt. Is a turbo-engined car more fuel efficient than a naturally-aspirated car with the same horsepower? Not necessarily. An example is Mitsubishi Lancer Evo (2.0L turbo) versus Infiniti G37 (3.7L V6 non-turbo). Believe or not, the Evo MR is less fuel efficient than the G37, both in the city and on the highway.

/ q5 f* U5 e$ t j BRegardless of the fuel efficiency and price and O&M cost, some people like turbo, some people don't. This will be the case for a long time. |
