We live in Magrath Heights and we are currently struggling with our 5-year-old daughter's to Kindergarten registration. I wonder if there are parents in Magrath, MacTaggart area who are struggling with this issue as well. I wish to explore possibilities to group up and help each other out on making our lives easier with the half-day kindergarten program.' s: M4 \- N5 T" @" A8 C! }4 [: T$ ^8 S

To kick it off, here are my two cents. 4 E! u& a7 P$ J u. T

We need to make up our mind as to which school to register to since one kid can only send in ONE registration at a time, and it can be really hard to switch school in the middle of the year. Currently there are two options for my daughter:& Z* J1 r& d, ^0 o0 K% U m+ T
9 y! u9 I! e8 x9 e3 f$ e& C
Option 1: Regular program - a new school - Nellie Carlson(http://www.epsb.ca/schools/newsc ... ions/nelliecarlson/) is under construction and scheduled to open September 2016; boundaries not finalized yet. 6 M: V& j% n8 B4 r6 j
No on site child care available. ) s/ o7 R, Z" d! h' F
& N7 M q) Q3 W! p( ?* GIF we fall under the final boundary, what to do with the afternoons? My husband and I both work full-time 30 minutes drive from home. I maybe able to take one afternoon off in a week, part-time is not likely an option.9 } j8 l) l: F/ e" n2 P2 h- ?9 ?
+ t& n6 y: @/ P# V4 T0 tOption 2: Mandarin Bilingual program - Parkallen School where there is a YMCA KinderCare close by, $755 a month, AND there is a wait list.$ I! k2 i. F; p, K# M
Honestly, I wish to send my daughter to the Mandarin Bilingual school, but again, there is the afternoon issue, YMCA is not guaranteed and expensive. I wonder if there are other parents considering this school and we could come up with a program to support each other and incorporate with Chinese elements. ! X- k* c/ S, b8 o" i2 v: V; C$ u8 K
