Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.
/ q, M. z' m6 l+ Z+ W! c3 `Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.
7 h8 Z) C' L3 Z8 L jMcIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.2 q7 ~$ i% l- v' X* `
Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.1 \: C2 U0 n1 Y* g% h# T
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.& l- Y6 q2 p! r: B3 f
