The Government of Alberta introduced the special Support Our Troops licence plate in 2014. The Support Our Troops licence plate honours current and former members of the Canadian Armed Forces. 0 `7 t$ j; ~9 b8 J& `: I7 z! ?" q% s7 d2 b; p
The majority of the revenue from the sale of this plate will go towards the Support Our Troops Program managed by the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services.4 ^( X+ N8 _2 R

The design features artwork in honour of the first 4 Alberta-based Canadian soldiers whose lives were lost in Afghanistan in April 2002.7 ~4 j1 {& F" @3 Y
. @ u; X+ j4 H& o& l" MThe plate is available for a one-time fee of $75 plus a $9 (plus GST) registry agent service charge. 0 `7 q( s3 L% ]* q# ~# j' \- ^4 M9 K D( \+ W/ Y' j
This plate is only available for passenger vehicles used for personal transportation only. G& ~7 w$ m1 T& a6 r9 W: U2 d |& }8 ^; v6 l( M7 z
To purchase this plate, you must show ID with an Alberta address. * x5 g* T7 t: B7 G+ p/ V* ]: t; ^* z& T* l q. W+ u0 g* A+ N
You cannot choose the letters and numbers on the Support Our Troops plate. They are issued in sequential order and mailed directly from the manufacturer. # j; i- B. W2 B$ y1 i8 k7 i! Y6 I2 h1 u) \( u
The Support Our Troops plate doesn’t replace the veterans licence plate and you cannot exchange a veterans licence plate for a Support Our Troops plate. ( M& H! I& U/ d& f4 a8 S# ^% k ' U" E# W: E!
