As you may have heard, a new federal carbon tax will be introduced in Alberta on January 1, 2020. The tax is part of the Canadian government's comprehensive climate action plan to help lower carbon emissions.

We wanted to let you know what to expect on your energy bills starting in January. The charges will apply to your consumption of natural gas at a rate of $1.0499523/GJ. You'll see a new line item under your gas distribution charges as soon as your bill starts to register January’s usage.+ y: J, Y4 Y# q/ ?- E% L$ k

You'll find more information about rebates, how the proceeds will be used, and additional relief available for farmers, fishers and residents of rural communities at the Government of Canada's website.
