As you may have heard, a new federal carbon tax will be introduced in Alberta on January 1, 2020. The tax is part of the Canadian government's comprehensive climate action plan to help lower carbon emissions.

2 I) { j1 Q w* T+ WWe wanted to let you know what to expect on your energy bills starting in January. The charges will apply to your consumption of natural gas at a rate of $1.0499523/GJ. You'll see a new line item under your gas distribution charges as soon as your bill starts to register January’s usage.. n7 q! ?! Y" f5 W

You'll find more information about rebates, how the proceeds will be used, and additional relief available for farmers, fishers and residents of rural communities at the Government of Canada's website.
