TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.
5 z* r$ `" p; i2 Z/ zClarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.
- ?+ `' V6 L4 ^- N) c5 pThere are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.
; P/ K; C+ n4 X' ^( C3 J4 o
5 o% W& g: n6 c' ~The company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007.
