Classification: Statistics Canada CR-04, Term, Part-time

Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
Employment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s
8 U7 s, ^3 N, X: o2 v" k+ ~schedule should be reasonably flexible.
Language requirement: English essential

Job description
$ B6 C2 D; V4 @( _Statistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
weekend hours.
8 p# V1 t8 I9 e* ]. k" q, PYou will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
* s. \1 T4 Q6 T. A* [, Alab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
0 j! C* M/ E$ ^& [centre.
! y- i) e. K" l, Z4 h8 N( I, lThese responsibilities include:
, k( ?9 F& E# {, S8 o+ u2 n8 n-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
' r5 i% e7 w% [# W6 X-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
5 S$ @% m! d. q9 T/ z! g: d" V. o! krenewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
facilities’ maintenance, etc.
! y% e% v$ }4 w, N$ S7 H7 g, W-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
( F4 O& G  }4 F8 b- S2 iclients’ files etc.
  v3 G% n% k! A! F3 }$ f9 ?3 U( }Statement of Qualifications
Education:
# i* h' l3 X( _6 X. T-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
/ |4 y0 o3 ~: o6 J( M' feducation, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
8 f. P$ X4 k0 i- U( Q4 E& dof education, training and /or experience.
! P2 R  C. Z; E$ {9 O8 U- RKnowledge/Technical competencies:
5 h1 h" F1 ^4 [-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
2 l* F5 O1 D+ f% \2 V6 Sand Excel.
: |4 L. W# E" B-Experience using and updating an information database.

5 q4 j8 p3 O( f6 i9 _% l$ M2 DAssets:
-Experience in using MS Access.
-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
7 x  Y8 U, ]: o" s6 l-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
Abilities:
! w# M! T5 W; I5 ]/ \- W-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
# h) Z2 C% P  k$ U5 D-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
3 P* M; U9 l& D-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Personal suitability: Dependable, detail orientated, discrete, thorough, effective interpersonal
relations.
