Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works
" a2 m, I% G) x% P& l• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.- M* { `/ r) u7 w( S2 g3 T
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.' k, s3 L' B7 ]7 ^" d* G, F
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.- h; {4 {/ T( {# |- ~+ |* T c
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works& | k2 Z! G* q
• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing. ; u# D5 g, k$ H V7 v. V/ h+ R
• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
' M7 i6 h; t, I6 |• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.9 O9 {1 } |# }+ G! q
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.! D. f/ n' S! B2 x+ b/ m
• Pesticide Applicators license an asset. S. y8 Q, c% @, W2 b
• Labourers may be provided with rate up opportunities where required.

• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).
& n; G( |, s: ?7 b• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.+ X9 N5 R& c+ j. S2 [
• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects.
+ U( }7 r3 D/ H6 z o5 V1 v• Installation, maintenance and removal of road markings, traffic / detour control devices.1 @9 c |+ B4 m) j# K4 ^, `
Recreation Facilities Branch, Community Services
' T- g y% N- }6 F. [ P9 L- N• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.
* v: A3 Z( M* }9 e# e7 _• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration., l4 H# r" N, A7 W2 p
• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.
% j: ?% F' v8 o* g" N• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.+ W( [- q$ _! { r1 {- l {6 p0 p
• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

• Loading and unloading materials from trucks.
* T! l P8 J) Y% a2 M, ^4 I• Assisting tradesman and other more experienced staff & performing other related duties as required.

9 }1 v( r) ]8 m$ F• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.( I, L% W8 [' W Y1 H6 u2 K
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.1 B* C; m0 K, j8 D9 L( Q/ u
• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.
& o% X) S6 |, k* |8 y- P• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.
5 G5 F, F" J' {. x; u$ R• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.
* h N$ G9 P7 C+ K+ O5 P• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
; w u' X) l+ x' y: g• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.
7 w+ M0 Q# {' q( P, c6 `) FHOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.* i+ n- s( o) t- F7 K
SALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.
