The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
) }( Z; ?2 u9 z1 P' E" B" Fvolunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
+ f+ O) C' \9 {9 @ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
, u+ t9 D, o. f5 B" K; N( l' P: z/ |& Rsustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
1 R/ o% j! W' A& T0 ?: G# v1 xand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
5 l. H6 E" V& c2 A9 c; J6 B1 l- Onon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
  z6 W* v4 n4 ~, c& M" eworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
( H  W8 E; Y2 ]" g* Z) A! Npolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
5 c1 E7 g& O3 {affairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
) i9 J& b8 U" Uarrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
9 z! b4 z) @) s8 {6 amedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

5 \# m2 b; E" R  G  S& U6 FPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

7 G$ z; k* i5 m8 cIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
2 U# k* A* L9 F' vdevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
+ y' [# K. A& W, p* E% Nthe funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
0 ]# x: |% ~' Z8 C3 [& Q  athat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

! h4 i5 k1 ?8 o1 G1 m$ XKey Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
6 k" z2 Y4 G+ p( E" z3 X3 oincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
7 B+ [7 P$ B, j* ^partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
# H% D& s. b% x4 wwork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
  e. J- H% R% k: P" wprocesses an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
  h. l; v# {& `) v- Z% K5 eproposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
