) w9 G- j8 Q) D' b; I- }Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

3 ~' T1 F/ c/ Y5 e1 k7 ]• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.$ a- \" `* p* W) `$ g& D& J/ U
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers., `( M1 ~0 B9 `; k* w: _
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.& h; }% k4 R7 A( w
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

JOB REQUIREMENTS: V* l% Y' O+ D
• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.' k5 R4 |7 s6 N2 i' h/ R- P/ N
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability ' H' w3 h. W7 e9 k/ F. y/ D+ I$ I
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

9 \% G3 P9 \) f0 G9 y• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).' {- y5 `5 U" h( H$ C1 p2 e
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
" L" Z* ]% s7 q; r# L; s* x• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.4 |. C% u3 b) Z/ R6 G* f/ @. E% K" |( T
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
' |7 h3 o) F+ _% o9 H% w& \showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. & Z8 {$ C" T+ D3 y! _: e4 K% f
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill " R+ k& I) ]* o1 R1 @
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).- g* c6 z; r; V2 T) I U/ s
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly& i6 k4 w# c5 V+ T
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
