Alberta Finance, Edmonton - is seeking a highly motivated economist to join the Economics and Public
Finance group. This group is responsible for providing the government’s economic forecast, which underpins
/ D. `6 G; f+ v5 n- gthe revenue forecast for the government’s fiscal plan.

9 F7 z2 M2 N, f: ?Your main responsibilities will be to monitor current economic developments, analyze trends and assist in
2 N' V5 y" v( w+ k2 Dpreparing the economic forecast for the Alberta government. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you
9 A% P! l" b3 S6 e$ Y! Pmonitor developments within Alberta and the global economy and assess the implications for Alberta’s
/ G' |7 ^4 w3 R0 G* V. E% p# J. K( heconomic performance and major revenues. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills will enable
you to present the results of your technical analysis to a non-specialist audience.

- P% W* a. p0 Q0 ~You will work in a team environment and be comfortable in defending your analysis and forecasts to others in
; R! o# i6 U5 mthe group. The ability to manage numerous projects will prove valuable as you will have to meet multiple
deadlines. The ability to develop or enhance forecasting models would be a definite asset.


) Y' ^* T# h* s" N3 k# k$ [Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Economics is preferred. Equivalencies (such as a Bachelor’s Degree and
/ d2 z! p  c& psignificant relevant work experience) will be considered. This position requires a strong grasp of economic
theory and quantitative methods, familiarity with economic research techniques and knowledge of econometric
5 I* _* x+ e1 ~7 T1 z6 m& bsoftware (e.g. ESTools, Eviews, Shazam), and excellent communication skills.
