the fact that the university housing has no more space for newcomers

asked to look for a residence on open market.

While the average cost of living for a typical graduate student has

exactly for the same amount of money that we were offered in our 6 N6 g* S/ j) P8 k6 M
admission letter (18000 CAD + 1500 CAD for international students 7 @( H% I, ^+ H& x2 x( c- `
=19500CAD. What I get is something around 1000CAD/month!!! after
# u: |* S/ l+ O# N% ?0 Stuition fee and taxes). To make the argument easy to understand just ; z5 P) m" u$ b6 o
imagine that a new student gets the same amount of money that I am # t8 k; y# z. n4 K
getting now and I was getting 3 years ago but he or she (like all of
' ]1 p/ w& F% J, W5 ]' Aus) has to pay twice as much as I was paying for housing when I was $ S! z" p: O# q: x" O9 o4 g3 B6 _
admitted and has to incur at least 70% more in average living costs.

Also have in mind that Alberta is a rich province and University of ) N* [- l( l& i5 M9 {
Alberta has a remarkable record in absorbing various money and grants , q# [% p; s3 i0 d. X
from different governmental and non governmental sources and graduate ( f3 L- Q+ V+ |
students are the main pillars of research work at the university.

is to question the adequacy of financial aid for graduate and & U* `+ C2 ]( \) k, a) J, {6 w
especially international students. Isn抰 it time for the GSA to take
8 R+ `! h. O/ i2 j: z( j* h$ [* w7 T5 \ : d4 w) M" x* B
initiative in raising the issue of increasing financial aid for 1 L; o9 P- `1 j2 z; x
graduate students so that the can afford this increase in costs?5 _6 i* e$ I: D- b" h
