Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community$ G9 s9 M' _" |- M" s/ L% K
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
1 K' O2 o* {1 _+ u3 _, d$ H4 |- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services% v; k" n' |' Z
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
& L+ J. N. D4 [& C. C( n1 g- coordinate good will activities1 [. q8 `, f* k, V; \! [4 n B9 S
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
; H" B& \ m2 R5 K" S- submit information for community news

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.+ v# v# @/ f+ ^* T/ ?8 T# M
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre8 x# _* Z" M* ? i
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

1 i" Y& o a5 B7 r- write quarterly and final reports for ISP! j8 s% i7 ^/ p3 K, q$ X5 _( i8 X. l
- explore new ideas for ISP

! D+ u7 G8 v; @" f+ s4 a- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time" k0 A5 A: o; g
- update membership database

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education ; [7 a) K6 w3 T+ u# B7 a
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
! g2 f* a i) q6 B* f. v- experience in community work and immigrant services% \3 j3 }% n) R4 y) \: k' G/ ^+ l
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
