) {# i" x2 Q N7 f2 fAs the Corporate Financial Co-ordinator within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting office of the Finance Branch, you will lead the year-end reporting functions within the City as well as the operating fund corporate accounting, and guide the development of related policy, procedures, and strategies. This includes:+ `% [7 J q" S( I% q

· Coordinating the completion of the annual consolidated financial statements, the Provincial municipal information return, and other financial reporting for audit.

$ m( I c" u* K% K· Providing advice within the organization and to related Boards and Authorities on options for resolution of financial and reporting issues.8 ~. Y$ P# [ G- U
$ u3 M6 m, H y2 }' C· Research and coordination for implementation of new professional accounting and reporting requirements for municipalities.

· Managing a group of professional and administrative staff, in completing ongoing corporate accounting functions.

· Performing the regular and customary managerial functions including decisions respecting staff hire/promotion, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, and leave/overtime authorization.. y" u! \/ e2 N9 ?' I$ H

· University Degree majoring in accounting or finance, and a Professional Accounting Designation.

; {2 B j3 W/ ]/ q· A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in the financial accounting and reporting field.

· Experience with complex computerized financial systems. Familiarity with SAP would be advantageous., |- G. t9 _" ~" d0 p

· Experience in preparing complex, consolidated financial statements for audit.

· Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.4 p) g3 B/ r! S3 B
( p" j4 b5 G' K9 U· A thorough knowledge of municipal accounting and reporting practices and standards.

. _2 B& A; U( ~· An understanding of the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and of commodity tax in a municipal environment would be of benefit.

HOURS OF WORK:
