FUNCTIONS:

As the Corporate Financial Co-ordinator within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting office of the Finance Branch, you will lead the year-end reporting functions within the City as well as the operating fund corporate accounting, and guide the development of related policy, procedures, and strategies.  This includes:

·         Coordinating the completion of the annual consolidated financial statements, the Provincial municipal information return, and other financial reporting for audit.

9 ]0 k( k$ E  |3 a·         Providing advice within the organization and to related Boards and Authorities on options for resolution of financial and reporting issues.

·         Research and coordination for implementation of new professional accounting and reporting requirements for municipalities.7 x! E4 m. {' P* Q$ I: v

·         Leading the development of related policy and procedures, and internal training where required.) F* R* M% f9 z3 M" J) w* m

9 O9 P0 Z8 `' ^# \0 F·         Managing a group of professional and administrative staff, in completing ongoing corporate accounting functions.

·         Performing the regular and customary managerial functions including decisions respecting staff hire/promotion, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, and leave/overtime authorization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:6 G6 @( ^. Z# ]5 |7 f# [

·         University Degree majoring in accounting or finance, and a Professional Accounting Designation.

$ W# o% |. O" R6 Z% d; m; d·         A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in the financial accounting and reporting field.# i* H9 A# D9 r6 i

. ]! U0 o/ F: p$ D4 i+ y7 r( n·         Experience with complex computerized financial systems. Familiarity with SAP would be advantageous.7 }! Q! I" l" _! Q

·         Experience in preparing complex, consolidated financial statements for audit.

·         A thorough knowledge of municipal accounting and reporting practices and standards.

HOURS OF WORK:
