As the Corporate Financial Co-ordinator within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting office of the Finance Branch, you will lead the year-end reporting functions within the City as well as the operating fund corporate accounting, and guide the development of related policy, procedures, and strategies.  This includes:6 i; K0 p. p" Q+ h2 I

9 K- B* X, ~0 J( a2 j0 N* U·         Coordinating the completion of the annual consolidated financial statements, the Provincial municipal information return, and other financial reporting for audit.

3 T, L( j2 v7 ~1 w·         Providing advice within the organization and to related Boards and Authorities on options for resolution of financial and reporting issues.

·         Research and coordination for implementation of new professional accounting and reporting requirements for municipalities.; `1 r6 q9 M3 ^

·         Leading the development of related policy and procedures, and internal training where required.

·         Administration of the financial accounting module of the financial information system.

·         Managing a group of professional and administrative staff, in completing ongoing corporate accounting functions.5 A1 P0 D% ^& A7 d

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

' h1 t, A% q, k: g·         A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in the financial accounting and reporting field.; t1 ]4 `+ R& b  a: W' n

, l' k) x$ B8 Z·         Experience with complex computerized financial systems. Familiarity with SAP would be advantageous.5 o. C: M" o' l. H' r" E* m

, x7 P% @) Z/ A·         Experience in preparing complex, consolidated financial statements for audit.( z3 L2 Y, B9 l* u

9 ~0 }; n$ E" G, u·         A thorough knowledge of municipal accounting and reporting practices and standards.

·         An understanding of the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and of commodity tax in a municipal environment would be of benefit.

HOURS OF WORK:
