JERUSALEM - Israel is sending disaster relief to China.

$ n' I0 Q& Y1 Z9 CForeign Ministry spokesman Arye Mekel says a plane is on the way to southern China carrying clothing, medical supplies, generators and tents for victims of the May 12 earthquake.

According to Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, "This is the minimum that the State of Israel can do in order to express the friendship between Israel and the Chinese people."6 ]% @6 N( j2 ?3 `$ S$ x

The earthquake has left at least 62,664 people dead and an estimated five million homeless.
