Duties

* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis, z7 z2 m2 A9 B$ q. q
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography7 X; M+ L; p. e
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
8 M" P* b% a3 w2 a3 N" ` j * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client+ S+ s# u; s8 M7 L# k
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
o' s6 n* r: M+ S; s: C0 b * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals1 t. o0 B+ q# R6 C" ?8 s
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab0 A, v) L) x7 Q- Z/ C
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
a6 Z& c6 B, |1 t/ m * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred A3 _( E( b0 o C' G5 @! t4 M
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
) C7 K v$ D9 J9 ^3 k * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
2 ]( m% ]# E/ y$ H/ B- d: o6 M * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
7 S+ D9 ?' i2 Z" t( l2 y$ W * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
