Duties

* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis9 H! o! H- V1 O$ V! q& t, [0 L
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
9 e( `# M$ p" \+ G* v. w * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
7 U) d& n; m9 C, L * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
3 M; L6 |+ u& ^6 g* v9 B8 _ * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry+ F1 f; [2 y$ }' ^5 x* G# J
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
! B+ z+ e$ O/ b- u3 F+ } * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab; Q) b, N# b( E( A
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices9 y% p( y, V) l7 v1 D5 N# E
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)& W+ W3 c2 b6 }0 _/ _

) e1 j8 ?8 ?0 q% H7 X * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred# i- s- n- P+ ^ |
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
