Duties
9 A1 ^) F: Q6 d+ K5 f( n, Q+ E" r9 P- n! ~- i% S
* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis7 u- B c) U$ \
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
) [ f% y% r, z% O9 c' y * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques0 F& U0 s6 K! P: U& G0 O
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
6 i W; i! W; M * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
! Y! X* d+ L, c+ }: v& i$ l" O * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
0 i1 f$ q2 {1 m * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab5 m, @: c$ ]+ m
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
7 ]1 U& e% ]. P& L4 U * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
! R/ Q' W% K1 O6 j3 u6 X* \6 y! q6 o4 l% @+ a/ w" c3 a- u: j+ L
* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
! d/ M0 Y. G$ M6 T: ], j * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab); m' Z. Y) J5 U3 S
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel/ w) q! y+ K- X A; S; o
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
/ Q0 h2 {2 F3 Y, g * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
