: h/ E# x# V! Q" Y- u: ^ * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis( ~; k! U& a* f
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography0 Q5 p9 l# {0 L$ l* M
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques' R' H U& y3 I' K
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
& ]' e1 o* E9 m' ^; X * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
8 P( y9 W4 @% q, p+ I/ k, S2 S * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals e0 y' F6 \: U; r5 D
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
4 R& P5 A+ t6 A! s/ [. J * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
2 ?1 S+ ` v8 V, V" t* h * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS). Q; }& C7 w2 s5 ?/ I9 P& J3 y$ d# d( g

Qualifications7 C- D) B8 F: E K' Q5 g

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
. S) U, a8 H7 d& B * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)! t) ]! H% s' U- C
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel9 a0 h. C* w# `
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
- W2 w' N T+ x' _- \5 N6 W( y * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment; V% `% k# c2 z0 h* K
