Duties
! P; k; R  W! A- l& G& \, p
# I! v5 \8 ^. X( L& a    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
' u! _+ C1 s4 |3 B3 K7 a$ M    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
0 V0 w: q$ {/ b/ E0 b( R    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
9 E1 N# e2 C1 N! b    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
$ v9 w* F+ [5 {; f/ F  V    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
# y5 u" Y+ V  h0 H$ k: D; Z% w; F    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications
* S; i/ s' {) ?. u
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
$ }) X: E: y) M* j/ y    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
1 m; D( ]. c& N& J& U8 Y( @7 H    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
6 L# q! M; I# Y    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
( b% ^% s5 L" K8 t    * Fundraising skills an asset
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
4 V- `/ J* e' A( ~# p! l    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
$ q) b1 P7 N/ M    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
9 H; `% q9 }0 S2 U# z    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
