Duties

T) X% u0 U5 G, w- O( ^ * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region$ a7 J2 i# J! b S
* Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
' j' d* p, h$ N* g8 U * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
( I, j! |+ J8 W; ]! { x, w& z/ S6 w * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
% {, ^) ~. ?# v% D$ w0 u * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director2 N* q r- a9 F5 C7 v9 W
* Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses M# ?3 s( u( g. Z' r# ~: u" O+ n$ w
* Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth& t b; l* H- e) g7 `/ e2 `: ^
* Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program) H. w0 p$ |0 v% y" i O
* Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment) _0 L, d' o) h& h6 ]
* Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
! g- t5 G6 D) C" n" r7 h * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs

* Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities

Qualifications! T0 X# ]( T* o# O0 J2 e9 l" ]4 I
$ w0 ]) R* E' [4 r2 U# J * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline( C6 D" P# V* [1 R3 N+ O: ]/ Z
* Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
6 n6 O4 r. F' O * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
- I& z0 D- q) s" I * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs) u- r$ A7 e9 r# V- r* R w
* Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community/ W' k( `" ^# o2 ]. m
* Fundraising skills an asset
' l" Q% F0 A" L' D$ `* A. l% A * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
