Recently OPEC reduced crude oil production twice over just a few 5 ?# [$ Q* F- [$ e$ ~) Z
months. There are three wars going on in Gaza, Iraq and Afghandistan. 8 H/ W7 X0 r" t9 A0 t
A year ago these things would have spiked the price of crude oil by at ' y: L) V6 a* k/ Z
least $50.00 per barrel. Today, oil price declined by a record amount. ( ?0 H. X6 y( ]+ F" |! k9 |

There are several reasons the price of oil is decreasing in the face 7 a8 _+ Y( |, i
of so much news. These reasons are:

1. New oil has been found in Canada, Montana, North & South Dakota and 5 n; h, x# U$ t' C
in the ocean near Brazil. Each of these oil fields has more oil than

3 m3 J0 Z* T; {: k9 ?- J
, n& m- O5 Y8 n- e# P% ^2. New natural gas has been found in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. ( W" |; `1 J5 X2 D/ u

% g. X3 v" ], V: L) H: v1 ^0 g+ G- \2 U3. New methods of injecting CO2 and surfactants into oil wells is

4. Production of bio-fuels is beginning to reach critical mass. Bio

potential per acre in some cases is astounding. Many countries are

7 S1 d& j5 D" A/ r) [, _& ]0 J5. Virtually every restaurant in the US and all food processing plants
8 W0 D( H" @3 @* o) H4 Mare now selling their used oil to bio-diesel producers. Every pork, / u$ d, S) B, F! a8 u/ w$ h! P- p, X" J
cattle, turkey and chicken processing plant will soon sell their fat 6 D' C+ ]& W% l
to bio-diesel producers. One pork processing plant in Oklahoma is
7 G; N" Z ^# n& x' F* ~producing 30,000 gallons of bio-diesel per day from pork fat.

6. There are 99 nuclear reactors in various stages of planning and 8 ^! ?6 e3 P' P t

will replace oil.

are experiencing 20% to 25% better fuel econony with the new : e! r# O" G, u; ]2 d' ~# g3 h
equipment.

Airlines are flying airplanes with bio-fuel. They are finding the bio- 6 y; N4 q L/ a6 i) e
fuel is cleaner and performs better than jet fuel.

9 b6 q2 N) W+ F. V! I8. Cities and counties throughout the US are selling the rights to

available at very little cost or risk. The gas is displacing crude
/ v Q: ~7 u% X8 y: U7 P" Z. Uoil. ! [( T! r& i, L" h
/ B! E( o: K; X; C/ \& z' G6 G ] O# W7 x. s! l( s$ \
9. Coal is being transformed into a clean burning liquid fuel. The CO2
/ q9 G, R, l/ j" o7 Sproduced as a byproduct is sold to oil companies for injection into $ B+ a/ c3 S* Q2 `, Y& m" ?9 [& M
oil wells. . m E; z+ {. d3 H5 s- c, J

/ f: t; D" w8 S0 q: f9 X7 b10. Solar, wind and ocean energy is displacing oil as an energy M. v \# @1 R, d$ C9 B A$ Z
source. Three new wind turbines are being erected every day in the US. 8 n5 w7 P, h9 m' J* Y) J

% ]4 n6 l& V2 Z4 ~0 nEach of the above by itself will not make a large difference in the 9 r s) l6 }* c
price of crude oil but the sum of all of them together is world . q- K+ b2 i: I, _
changing. The important thing is that OPEC no longer has the ability 1 ~& r6 o( L/ ^+ S3 Q1 r* ~6 V
to control oil prices.
