% Y# a) A- m _4 BPayment and collection of health care premiums owed prior to January 1, 2009 will continue under these guidelines:

4 Y! J# W. L# {! c+ j* C/ N 1. All Albertans are responsible to pay premiums unless they qualify for premium assistance, government-sponsored income support programs, or are senior citizens.: o" S0 G0 g) r' m
2. Employers and benefit administrators who register and pay premiums on behalf of their employees will continue to do so.
/ G/ K0 {9 Y; F& U# W$ Z7 h/ O8 n, [ 3. Alberta Health and Wellness will continue to pursue collections from those who fail to pay premiums.
6 J$ C) S7 g% d i3 a) L+ m 4. Contributors to Alberta Blue Cross or other supplementary insurance plans that provide prescription drug, dental, and other extended coverage, will still pay those premiums, as they have not been eliminated.& C5 W, j9 B" l+ B4 Q
5. New Albertans must register for the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan within three months of their arrival. |
