Hello Everyone,
; b4 \1 ^0 i0 L- H- N: iI want to let you know about a 3 week program you can take for FREE withthe city of Edmonton. You can learn about home composting, recycling andother things. It's on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday.Look at the attachment for more information and to register. The deadlineis this Friday, March 13. The program is in April. It would be a great way to practice your listening and speaking skills.

Master Composter/Recycler Program / Free!

! m) U; Y- n9 ]+ ?2 m) }5 I! QNote: Application Deadline is March 13, 2009.

8 ~! r2 G7 Q' s9 d6 ~& S, Q& aDear colleague: once a year, the Waste Management Branch hosts the
Master Composter-Recycler Program. Over a 3 weeks course schedule
(Tues./Thursday evenings and Saturday) volunteers will learn about
; |' }3 V6 ?6 Eenvironmental stewardship in our city, such as: history of waste
management; home composting; household hazardous waste;
' K1 F" c; u& W3 O3 ]vermin-composting and residential recycling.

5 r+ G4 I8 i( K) ^+ ^& a6 [This course offers in-class instruction as well as several field trips
) E% u( T; }: u( N4 I$ P  gto various City facilities. After finishing the course, graduates
complete 35 hours of volunteer activity promoting the four R's:
, N) f4 L2 D: o2 M- \reduce, reuse, recycle and recover.  Graduates become important
* l# D' [, S+ q9 t5 B' Q" Sresources in their communities as they broaden awareness about the
% {, ~* a8 x7 Q0 aimportance of composting and recycling.
4 i$ n  w" p7 Q
Examples of volunteer activities include: help with Reuse Fairs & the
/ Z" _( C/ Z2 |) a% @' p, X' T1 KReuse Centre; helping friends/neighbours with composting problems;
$ t! d% u3 ~. H+ s3 u. spublic education display booths; assisting with programs and
maintenance at the City Compost Education Centres; assisting at
! J+ q' n: E+ e6 J( r5 I6 g* |various demonstration gardens and general public and school
! e6 X# G: P3 F  Spresentations.

8 d; N' U# U/ a" n0 FThere are many other opportunities for volunteers to contribute and
volunteers are able to choose the opportunities that interest them the

knowledge with others, then apply to become a Master
. }4 @' |1 J1 n* l1 }3 wComposter-Recycler Volunteer!
