This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and- g4 S, B3 X* y/ D5 {/ m6 R- H3 {
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions., b4 z5 c @+ B+ Q
The program includes the following elements:
* _$ c( ^4 h M+ C7 T. Q6 r+ H• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)4 O% n0 [ X' Q
• Standard Child Care First Aid
3 h5 a- Z, Z( Q; C- C4 n* @ \• WHMIS
% c) X3 S" [0 ~+ z• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care. `; [, N; `' Y
• Components to improve communication skills& C( }- b. ]) t; Z
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search7 l# O( K! _* x; j% F) f$ _! n
• Practicum Placements" ^0 t0 N" Q, k
Eligibility Criteria3 Q7 N4 j2 Q5 q( V) e( ~0 z
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
& E% x \ z0 R" b# M3 @2 e6 vof Canada
. k. D) S8 Z) ]9 ?& [+ _• have a Social Insurance Number1 I+ O% K2 ^- I; ~, M% c! B
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check3 j5 [/ G+ s/ i/ E8 v! ~! [; A0 a$ I
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent

• be unemployed or underemployed.
