8 t7 n9 @; `# \FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
3 s: C9 ]# W% N; L; }3 u& Gwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
8 Y4 T" [: ^. y2 {- i4 Aartists from Northern Alberta.

) _- z9 F& h5 D5 ^* j1 DFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
2 l6 K1 j! o1 Zand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
" ^! K% L* Z! G- ?0 N* gresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
5 U* `8 x) O& ~/ j" z5 a8 a0 [screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
. R) p, k. M7 }0 @assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
/ E' i1 o' v" l. u  a& e  ]- Assist with research on acquisition grants
( b+ p! Q8 y) `- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
, I, n3 m' _. @- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
# q" P1 p- E, [$ f) }" y& y  |- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

& z' F  V" R+ P) f2 r* F( BQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
* w2 D1 K$ g1 D, r0 F/ L- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
) f0 p& i% ]+ J- w; N) h9 O# q, }! W- Advance organizational and research skills
$ l7 L& p" p+ {- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
+ [( \$ B' h4 O' E, Q- e( y; e$ l- _- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
