FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
. F* }! A7 c) l  t7 kwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
: N' @$ F( @8 L0 k/ cartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
9 }# U2 _1 z# J$ W' ]9 band media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

. p, F6 m1 L4 T8 ~! sJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
. R/ {% k0 S# x2 k% ^assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

4 W; ?  E' P; [Duties:
2 o  [8 V% p0 t" x$ v1 F- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
, N8 h6 X5 q$ a( j3 Z$ x1 Z- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
" \1 U' D8 S( l7 @3 o- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
' h+ _3 F! X7 z- k& [, n- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
+ H# d& |$ {& F, K2 _secondary training
) l5 Z' y; Y% d4 h  K( m2 l3 P- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
% v4 f8 v2 g0 v- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks
! k' d: ]( d& W$ q% P2 E! l( z$ m
3 _! j+ k% f3 ~9 ?. CQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
5 q; p; c! Y2 h- Advance organizational and research skills
# Z1 H! v- Z! {6 n' k& ^4 o- X- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
