FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
0 w9 P' C1 |2 u, ]3 D. fsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
* v) u8 h+ K! O/ b; i9 wand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
7 T% t! N9 R$ ~0 hFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

' c  a; R' \/ b6 b2 z; X0 f0 a- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
* v$ l! @8 ?% o; y* W' o1 P- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
% k9 k$ u+ q& c" D- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
