FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
* u9 n! n( i8 i$ A8 qsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
- U! I+ o+ M5 R, w4 |) dsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern / D# u$ b6 P3 Q% {4 V( S
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
3 |( m0 q |# q4 y; lemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video - |1 U }) ?$ Z7 q6 B E9 g
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a ; y% T4 j5 O6 V5 @2 _
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
/ \; h2 s& v% F* C6 Q% [( j ~6 @. Kscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 3 \6 J a- J$ l' E5 Z$ Z k

' E% t5 m$ A+ a N" IJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
& \6 s' O K! e- a8 y' [& i4 oFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as * }! J4 D: \5 `4 P; D! d
well as the script, magazine and book library. 0 |8 c& R5 q$ A+ q/ T5 x

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library 7 n. M9 y: ]5 p" v0 v4 Z
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
/ K4 r6 U4 Q V2 f- |& g3 g8 ~- Implement a catalogue template for future use
7 z# y2 z, @- w7 g: Q0 S, ]- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
: y S- @" e S- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
, Q4 [% g2 j+ g( T1 x! w- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
9 @# U/ I8 J$ k- Strong organizational skills
( ^; Y3 A2 z, u( M$ T+ r- Experience or training in library sciences preferred 8 {0 x l2 ~( Q3 u
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal + o+ N% q( S0 b. h% a$ c# w1 z
- Strong team player abilities
