FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
* u9 n! n( i8 i$ A8 qsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
- U! I+ o+ M5 R, w4 |) dsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
3 |( m0 q  |# q4 y; lemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
/ \; h2 s& v% F* C6 Q% [( j  ~6 @. Kscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

' E% t5 m$ A+ a  N" IJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
& \6 s' O  K! e- a8 y' [& i4 oFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
/ K4 r6 U4 Q  V2 f- |& g3 g8 ~- Implement a catalogue template for future use
7 z# y2 z, @- w7 g: Q0 S, ]- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
: y  S- @" e  S- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

% W2 Z9 `: H3 g6 Y! S- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
  ~  i/ d+ l6 Q9 d* Osecondary training, university preferred
( ?0 O* T8 T3 G2 ]* O% J* F, `- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
, Q4 [% g2 j+ g( T1 x! w- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
9 @# U/ I8 J$ k- Strong organizational skills
( ^; Y3 A2 z, u( M$ T+ r- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
/ [) z+ s' y: l' H8 D8 R- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
