FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
: F/ o4 H5 x2 j4 {summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to 4 x1 w4 g3 Q% K% \ m7 E- k( s& U1 c( I
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern 1 H6 y5 V9 ]0 t

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
2 R& A8 N1 |2 P# E- [ Vemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
9 [9 H0 e* x, a- ~and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a - k) D6 M* m X o
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 5 R! }4 Q' A9 Z1 a0 Q
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern " H6 N' G; ^. G

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
* M( R: M: G% P( e- v9 [6 R) F# uFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
/ o2 e5 `) L$ u5 }well as the script, magazine and book library. 2 M! B6 `) w8 }
/ X/ Q' U8 G$ g" T t! V1 ?Duties:
; n4 l+ Y- ?( I- f. S* {6 g/ O- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
) R$ E2 p- A6 q6 n' k U- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books : k+ l3 A! _; k* r' ?! t( Z) h
- Implement a catalogue template for future use " Q0 B3 g. i( B$ n0 g& _
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
4 q3 k1 k2 ]3 m; k" D$ D& w7 E4 j9 ~- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 4 X. O$ o" q7 H; D" I& r2 L

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
1 I! f- g+ {! }$ w! D. V- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ! U& s8 d) @1 G$ V4 j
- Strong organizational skills
+ ~8 M6 a$ b: s- Experience or training in library sciences preferred * |9 H# K: A6 T7 s5 q5 }
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal 4 {3 J0 E& U9 a+ M n
- Strong team player abilities 2 t3 O$ }; i8 a" ` W1 Z \) ]
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 2 R9 U! ~6 R6 T% Z
